I tend to like minimalist kit, but even I like the odd feature. One I really wish I had was Philips FTS. I can’t blieve it didn’t catch on, Basically the player stored the tracks you programmed it to play and skipped the ones you left out every time you played a disc. All you had to do was press the FTS button. Some players even had FTS 1 and 2, which was handy for couples who had different preferences.
Any features you think of as “must haves”? Remote volume might be one. I prefer to have the hifi beside my listening position and like to adjust manually.
Anyone else like FTS? I bet there are other features out there that were useful and didn’t catch on. Nice to see them get a shout out.

Yes programmable tracks on cdp is handy, cause there's usually always a couple duffers on an album (unless it's the Proclaimers or Bay City Rollers of course)
Not really a feature, but I do like a long lead on my cans I purchased a 5mtr lead.....This gives me room to move about when dancing...!!!

Years ago I had a programmable turntable by JVC. It was a real bonus. I like auto and semi auto decks too. At the very least I want a curing device for the arm.
Auto reverse tape decks are also a great idea. The RX Nakamichi S that used to swivel the tape itself were very Cool.

Linn have gone in for it big style. You’ll have to pay £45k for the privilege though.

Lots of people seem to love remote volume. The only time I enjoyed it was the Linn LK1. Motorised posts always seem a bit of a blunt tool to me. The chunky remote for the LK1 is a thing of beauty and sits so well in the hand, The Lk1 and 2 could have been so good but as one part got better, the other got worse sadly....

I agree. LK1 is much maligned but not bad at all, especially the phono stage. LK2 was more musical than 280 IMO.
