These strongly deserve a thread, IMO.
The HD600 is one of my most favourite headphone of all time.
Sound is pleasantly organic and free from glare. There's enough bite to dig out enough detail.
Not everyone is going to love HD600/650. Both are naturally laid back and fairly warm. If you want something that is more dry and chiselled. Then perhaps consider Grado/AKG.

One day I hope to grab a listen to these. Lots of people really love them. Maybe they will be the ones to make me like headphones. You never know til you try.

No harm in at least giving 600's a try, Andrew. They easily sell on if no likey!

Never heard of ADL. Always good to hear of something less well-known cos you never know when you might come across them. They may be a real bargain price too, just because they are less well-known.

The HD600 is going to be (possibly) my endgame headphone.
I've tried other different headphones over the last 3 years, but for some reason I always return back to the 600's.
You can listen to these buggers for a long time and not feel tired. The midrange is ever so liquid and free from grain. There's enough sparkle too! Plus I love how they look.
Grado's will always be second choice to me. I like Grado's. But I'm not always in the mood for their super upfront raw presentation.
There's just one more headphone I'd love to try someday, and that is the Audeze LCD-2 Classic (£599). Plenty nice hyped reviews to watch on YouTube.

I thought the Audeze LCD2 were somewhat poor. They were quite a bit more xpensive than £599 so I’m not sure which version of the LCD2 they were. Sounded dull, slightly muffled and thuddy compared to any decent Grado, Also ridiculously heavy and hot. You’d need a neck exercise regime ahead of buying.
It was listening to the LCD2 that convinced me not to bother with serious headphone listening. Only marginally better than Audioquest and tonally very similar if youve heard them. YMMV though so I’d never discourage you or anyone from hearing.

The 600's I had distorted on deep 'EM' percussive bass notes BUT, this may well have been the standard headphone sockets fitted to many sources and preamps. I never got to try them at home with a proper 'amplifier' rather than a chip output as cheaper headphone outlets use. The HD25SP's I use are better for my purposes, so I kind of stuck with them.

Have read plenty about the Massdrop 6xx. There's really no difference between it and the 650. Both are the same. I've had around 3-5 650's in the past. Still prefer the 600. There's a certain charm about it, but I can't put my finger on it. S.

The 600 isn't for everyone. You either ''get it'' or you don't with them. S.

I'm not overly keen on the Audioquest Nighthawlk. They're pleasant enough but rather too boxy for my taste. Also I don't particularly like the rubber suspension system. S.

Try the Nightowl if ever you get the chance Shane. Just out of curiosity have you ever heard Senn 700's.

I only heard the Nighthawks and Nightowls at a show, but preferred the owls. I don't believe there was much of a difference.

Maybe I’m being a bit harsh on the Audeze and the Audioquests. It was the comparative listen against Grados that made me think they were both so lacking because there was so much extra clarity from the Grados. It wasn’t just presentation either. They were both losing loads. They sounded like they had pillows over them, I’m not a great fan of AB comparisons because they have often led me down the wrong path. Maybe I should grab a non comparative listen sometime. Perhaps judging them on their own terms would make me feel differently. It’s very hard to erase the memory of that comparative listen though. Also, I’d still need the neck exercises before revisiting those Audeze.
