What I have now. Which I guess is probably what most people will say.
I suppose there are reasons for having to go backwards, debt, divorce, just getting fed up with it and selling the lot.

As I'm sure everyone on here knows I have had ESL57's for the last 30 years. Excellent in many ways, but perfect?
No, what speaker is. Speed and clarity to die for but beaming and no slam. However now I have taken a different turn I hope to more than grow into the Thiel CS 2.2, a very promising start.

I would hope people's response would be exactly that, if it's not I'm sure there's good reasons as you point out but I think I'd find it impossible to go back. Unless physical space is a limiting factor perhaps (house move etc). I've had my Martin Logan Prodigy's for nearly 6 months now. They are probably not THE best speaker but they do the least wrong of any I've owned so far. My Quads 63's and 57's close after that and I have a soft spot for my Loth X BS1's. I'll always keep them too I think

Near the top of the range for that model, unless he won the lottery recently? Have a look at Focal Utopia Evo III, and the eye watering price for top of the range Focal speakers.

I'm not sure many of us are eating at that particular table 🤣

I really liked my Von Schweikert Research VR4's. The speed, coherence, effortless detail, dynamics, ease of driving, bottom and top extension, clarity, vocals... only the extended bass was not as tightly controlled as some. But they were large speakers that I knew would never fit in any place I've lived since 2001, so they had to be moved on. I still miss them.

When I sold the Mordaunt short Performance 880s, I didn't think I would find a speaker I liked as much. You'll all recall why they had to go .... But nothing landed a glove on them. I mean, LOOK AT THEM Many failed attempts at finding a speaker that even came close to them followed, until eventually the Q Acoustic Concept 500 got here. I can't claim these do EVERYTHING the 880's did, because they physically cant, but I do feel that what they can do, they do with higher levels of resolution, transparency and better imaging, although that's probably because the 880s needed the Sydney opera House for space around them lol. I find I appreciate the 500 speakers for their perceived invisibility, than any other speaker I've owned. I also think I'd hear a slight colouration with the 880s if I compared the two. Not much, just a little. I loved the 880s, but the Q Acoustics win here. They are the Best speaker I've owned 👍

The best speakers I've owned, Shahinian Obelisks although the pain of losing them was eased by the purchase of NVA Cube 3's.

Definitely my current ML Summits, though I do miss my 989s but not their fragility. For Vfm vs performance it has to be my KEF 104ab that I picked up 2 years ago from EBay for £102 + £15 for the low trolley stands, whether, as they currently are, in my 2nd system or in my main rig they sound superb.

For once this is an easy answer
First up Meadowlark Audio Blue Hero II's for a transmission line (Having owned quite afew Von Swk's inc VR7's) these produce bass like PMC could only dream about plus a lovely natural tone and they were fast!
The amount of speakers that have passed through our hands are significant but few actually stay, these two did for around 4 years (that about 2 Eon's worth for Mister C's listneing space)
Focal Meastro Utopia III's
Then Grand Utopia III's although our pair were black
For the last 10 years TAD has graced our listening rooms, my favourite the CR-1

Their modern equivalent (mine are from 1997) is £5K so no-where near the top of their range. Can only imagine how good the top of the range are, never heard any other Focals at any price level. If I wasn't finishing work then the Maestro Utopia III would be a consideration. Or the JBL 4367

Can't knock your choices of speakers MisterC, although I've never heard any Meadowlark's.

I used to have Focal 1028be’s in the past few years which IMO sounds really good with the “right” amp. And obviously the KEF Ref.3’s are the best speakers I’ve owned.😉

As my first love is Organ Music, I was always looking for the elusive Bass. I now have a good Rel sub, but I suppose my first foray was the amazing TDL Studio One TL speaker. I remember getting the bus to Gloucester to here a pair in 1990, I was amazed ( and they only went to 28Hz or so) I ordered and bought a pair. Cannot remember how I got them to my flat, I must ave passed my driving test by then

the 'baby' TDL as it was known. Flat in room down to 30Hz pretty impressive, even most mega money speakers won't do that.
I suppose they probably would be mega money if they still made them today though.

I got him round to hear my tannoy eaton legacy when i got them and they did not dissapoint !!! his organ also has a sub . almost sounds better than the real thing !!
