It would be a fun project to take on, but I don't expect it to pull up any trees.
Best case 0.02% distortion? Not bad.....but the frequency response rolls off very early at both ends IMO.
Mid range focussed device me thinks.

Still thinking about a Salas DCB1 found a kit with all the parts on Reverb but not sure its something i could put together.

Still thinking about a Salas DCB1 found a kit with all the parts on Reverb but not sure its something i could put together. My first diy project was a dcb1, didn't know anything about electrickery then. There are some advantages to this I think. Some observations. 1) Low voltage so fairly safe compared to power amp and valve stuff. You are still dealing with mains 230 though before the TX so bear that in mind. 2) It's a tried and trusted cicuit, there is lots of resource out there to help on it. Many people here will help too if you decide to go for it. 3) I started with a Teabag kit which is the easiest way to go as all parts are there except for transformer and case etc. 4) Once you get it up and running it is easy to improve/tweak with some better parts as time/cost allows. 5) They sound very good for the money, my initial cost was about £400 all in before spending on better parts. Which made a big difference. That includes case and basic volume control, selector, rca sockets and hook up wire. The thread on my build is below, have a read if you think it helps 🙂. All mistakes and cock ups included. theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?61493-Christmas-is-coming-and-the-DCB1-s-getting-fat&highlight=Dcb1
