Playing around with a couple of buffers with my autoformers at the moment had them connected to a First watt B1 (revision 2) last week which made the soundstage massive.Yesterday was the turn of a Aikido valve buffer bit early to tell yet but on 1st listen soundstage was not as impressive as the B1 but my feet were tapping will give it the rest of week then its make my mind up time at the end of the day i would be more then happy with ether at the moment.

The DCB1 improves on the B1. I think TeaBag still sells them on DIYaudio. |

The DCB1 has gain though i think, how would that work with AVC.

The DCB1 has gain though i think, how would that work with AVC. It doesn't. Well, not as far as I recall? The DCB1 is a Direct coupled version of your B1...I do t think the gain structure is different. |

No gain on the DCB1.
Is your buffer on the input or output?

DCB1 is worth checking out. Not the best choice for every power amp but I can't see mine going anywhere, with Krell KSA50S it a stupid good combo.
Separates everything even in a complex mix and is sweet and clean top to bottom with absolutely no artefacts anywhere.
