But if they're black she can't complain? Get her out the way for the day and she might not even notice the speakers have changed when she gets back. I don't know what your paint spraying skills are like, but I know mine. Obviously I'd blame the mess on you but that probably won't get me off the hook. Might still work though - I once had an LP12 with walnut plinth, which she had me spray black. A right dog's dinner, but she still preferred it to the original colour. Current top contender is the Concept 500s, which i can get away with as long as she doesn't look at the sides (which is a cool feature imo). Selling the Zu's and my Audion amp might put me somewhere near it. You can get Q Acoustic 500s in just plain black. Like mine. |

My son came down with covid on Weds after me and Fiona had been with him on Tuesday. So.. kind of expectation is that we are going to come down with it.
Still testing negative tonight, but both feeling not quite right.
Probably prudent (and safer)to keep a low profile and so I think I’ll have to give tomorrow a miss.

I didnt take lots of pics as I was too busy, but I must thank everyone that turned up. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the DACs on show. I LOVED Tony's Quadrals. Great sound as always from a Quadral speaker. Thanks to Tony for bringing his measurement gear. It was really illuminating to see the minute details in real time. Brilliant stuff. The Soekris was my equal favourite of the DAC Bakeoff, which included a Gustard 26?, Calyx, Holo Spring (equal fave), a Naim 555 and a Rockna Wavelight. The Mutec highlited its influence, which although still unexplained, was undeniable for me. Gladly the Q500s did put out enough grunt, so that was pleasing too. Fab day and great to put names to faces. See you all next year!     |
