Following on from my extremely positive experience with the Triple C interconnects I continued down the path of upgrading the cabling within my system, next speaker cables.
Now I've long been a huge fan of my Tellurium Q Ultra Black speaker cables, they were and still are superb in every way. I've had so many contenders fall by their wayside and in all honesty I wasn't expecting the Triple C to be that much of a challenge for them.
Well, I was wrong. It may be partially to do with not having TQ Ultra Black jumpers (they are a tad expensive) so I was able to make up a full set of cables using the Acoustic Revive which could go directly to both terminals using pure copper plugs. However the performance increase in nearly ALL areas is clear to hear. Soundstage, instrument placement and again the removal of 'grain' from the sound which previously I didn't realise was there is just so obvious when you plug them in.
The only area where the TQ's still seem to have the edge (just about, I'm talking 5-10% maximum) is in texture depth of instruments like wood and wind acoustics. Not that the Acoustic Revive don't reproduce them well it's just that last ounce of tangibility which the TQ's exhibit so amazingly well. It's probably just because I'm so used to them, I don't think it would be hard to live without, especially considering how far ahead the Acoustic Revive's are on nearly all other areas.
Also they do seem to be opening up a bit, maybe a trait of solid core cable more so than stranded, so they may continue to improve further, which is genuinely quite exciting.
Please don't laugh(okay actually do because it looks ridiculous) at my 'taccing' over the end of cables to ensure an air-tight seal, I just wanted to make sure everything was perfect before I put on the correctly sized heat-shrink to finish them off perfectly. I just ran out of the stuff and couldn't wait to try them out!
Thanks to Oli and co for recommending them, not that he was particularly shy in doing so, but with good reason. For the price the performance increase over what I suspect are the majority of 'high end' cables, it's a complete steal.
