At the moment, I have a Blu-ray player connected up to my AV receiver. I would like to add streaming to this, so I guess the best way is to add an Android TV box to the system? One oddity of my AV receiver is that the HDMI input does not extract the sound from the signal, so I need a box with audio out. I have found one that (I think) will do the job, with the added bonus of having Chromecast built in. A Botech Wzone.
Wos ewes all wreck un?

I can recommend an Apple TV. HD or the 4K version. Mine work very well. You could then use the optical out to the AV amp. As for the Android TV box I couldn’t comment having never used 1.

Thanks. I am going to try the Android box first. If it is no good, it will be sent back, and Apple TV will probably be bought in the new year.

Just a note of caution… the latest Apple TV doesn’t have optical out. It’s hdmi only. I would still recommend them, but the way mine works is hdmi to the telly and then telly optical out to the av amp. On top of which I use optical out from the av amp to the built in dac of my Lyngdorf amp. It all kind of works, but a strange step from apple.

Yes your right. Sorry, I forgot about the 4K Apple TV having no optical.

The Botech Wzone is a great bit of kit. Set up was easy, involving my Android phone. I am pretty impressed with the picture quality and sound.
