They can remember back to when this was all just fields. Depends on how far back you want to trace modern agriculture, I guess

That's belt drive turntables for you. Strange things. Itās an interesting topic. Most belt drive turntables Iāve owned have had pitch issues. Of course, until recently I believed the hype that Jap DDs werenāt even proper Hi-Fi, so it went with the territory of owning a āgoodā deck. The only two belt drives I didnāt have pitch issues with were the 3 motor Voyd Reference and the Xerxes. I was able to AB compare the latter with a Sony PS-6750. Using the same OL mat and the same model cartridge, there was virtually no difference between the two, including pitch. So right now, I believe pitch stability can be done with belt drive, but it mustnāt be straightforward, I also believe all the other traits ascribed to top flight belt drives can be delivered by a Jap DD because Iāve heard one that achieved this.

Fond memories of playing 78s on my Grandas PYE radiogram.... peaking through the grills in wonder at the orange glow of the valves.....!!!

Ye need a Technics SP10 like Ol' Black Beard has in his second system. Not proper hifi, harr harr.

Except I've given up on the vinyl malarkey. Too much hassle and expense. A new stylus for my cartridge is now Ā£300! Bollocks to that.

You can have a decent MC for that. Personally, I think lots of cartridges and styli are overpriced. Some massively. One reason why I admire the DL-103 and variants.

I know, I did try a DL-103 but they are bit crude, they paint in bold strokes. The Nagaoaka MP500 does the finesse and the detail so much better, and still has a bit of balls. Although I think the cheaper MP300 is probably my favourite.
I spent a lot of money before realising I would have to spend a lot more to get it up to the standard I wanted. Stick an Audiomods arm on it, that's grand plus fitting. Get a phono stage the quality of something like the Paradise - there's another Ā£2K. Had to make a decision because there's no value in being stuck half-way. So I'm going to try and flog most of it to fund my speaker build.

DL-103 is not for me. No top end analysis. Rest is not bad though and at the money it has no real competition.
