Then you're a 'leading edge-HiFi' listener totally the opposite of me. The first deck is obvious, the second more emotionally engaging. Weak and dull may mean different mean levels, but the lead guitar sounds similar level to me, so I'm suggesting less compression and certainly less muddle in the busy bits.
Shame I can't do this in the shop as I used to.
Best I leave it there I think.

Yep,I think you’re right, Dave, I’ve always been kinda tuned into that sort of sound, I am enjoying a more “Everyman” presentation these days, but sources are still more leading edge. Of course I might hear more good things in the P6 on a proper dem, but it does sound like it needs a bit of livening up to me. I think it was a great video to post btw.

I'd just buy a bloody Spacedeck and have done with it, as you get the music as well as the HiFi for half the price of a Majik LP12...

Taking NA and fletcher Audio as one, where does the sweet spot sit in terms of “good enough”without paying for tiny improvements. Any insight into the arms is even more valuable, especially uni pivots. I would have to have whatever I bought refinished, but I wouldn’t rule out picking one up if it was at a good price. I just don’t know enough to even contemplate it.

They hardly sell now in the UK so are quite rare. I'm getting to be like a reformed smoker in this and am frustrated because I can't demonstrate these things any more.
Lots of great looking decks for a grand and I'm sure many of them 'sound' really good as well.
Onwards and upwards...

I might just park myself with the Ps-6750. It was pretty much as good as anything I’ve tried as long as I changed the mat. That gel thing everybody raves about was rubbish..

Try a Funk Firm Achromat. I borrowed one off of Ali and was convinced enough to fork out £70 for one. Not often I do that.

I had one but it was the worst mat I’ve ever used. It completely stole the bass on every deck I tried it with. I didn’t try a DD with it, but I did try LP12, Axis, Systemdek IIX, Xerxes and Pink Triangle PT1 and LPT. Universally dismal on the lot of them.
It did look pretty though, mine was a fetching shade of blue.

Indeed they are, cant understand why folk persevere with em.
Its akin to folk looking for a red telephone box whilst dismissing the mobile.

Now I think about it of all the decks I have heard only about 6 stand out as having it all.
2 of them were belt drives but they had been very heavily modified. One was an idler drive (Lenco) but modded so much it was unrecognisable. And the other 3 were all direct drive Technics decks. 2 heavily modded SL1210 and Ollie (Bigman's) SP10. Which I don't think is modded, just re-built.
All of them had got the arm and cartridge combination-thing totally sorted as well of course. This is why I can't be bothered with it anymore. You've got to be really dedicated to get a really good sound out of vinyl and I'm just not.

At less than a grand, my turntable, arm & cartridge combo didn't cost much in comparative terms, but sounds bloody excellent to me. Incidentally, my MC cart cost about three times what the TT and arm did. And yes, it's pretty hefty DD deck.

Now.......This may be ever so slightly controversial.
But screw all your MC cartridges.
I laugh at em, and the blinkered fools (hifi snobs) That suppose.....they are better than a humble MM cart simply because they cost more......wtf......Think about it......do you W#nk over SUTs...,!!!!
Do you actually know why a SUT may be required?
F#ck you.....
In motoring terms......Buy your £80000 Range Rover, but when you C#nts get stuck in the mud, don't ask jammy in his £8000 Suzuki Jimmy to bale your suckered asses oot.
