I’m sure som wit you will have seen this brand mentioned on AoS. Some will also have heard them at a recent show. They look to be an amazing bargain and I felt they well deserved a thread of their own. The baby speakers look incredible value but the TBD12 look very tempting. kralkaudio.com

I was impressed by them. The WAF is pretty low though and I suspect that will put some people off.

We heard Kralk speakers 6/7 years at a show and was mightily impressed, using an old Sansui amp. They were offering a special show price of £249, down from £299? I believe they were the BC30's which are now selling at over £1k. I know they are mk2's now but it does seem a little above inflation.

She didn’t like Apogee Centaurs, but that’s been the only one. I kinda like big, wide baffled speaker with big drivers,

Except Tannoys?
Never had a woman complain about the hi-fi. Why would you get involved with someone like that if you are into hi-fi? Makes no sense. Get the ground rules established from the off. My father made it clear to my mother before they were married that Liverpool Football Club would always come first. So never got any grief over that. (He got it over lots of other things instead of course so there's no free lunch here).
Did have a girlfriend once who did not like TV. Brough home a brand new set, 28'' Hitachi which was a big telly at the time, to replace the 12'' black and white I had. She wasn't happy about that at all. But massive unfinished DIY speakers in the living room, solder irons and drive units lying everywhere, unused kit piled on the mantelpiece, not a problem for her.

Yep the Tannoys I heard weren’t my thing, but I do like the look of many of them.
It’s great to have a partner who likes the gear too. Helps stop you getting carried away over tweaks too. If ther3s a genuine improvement she will say so. If it’s just slightly different or marginal, she won’t comment.

The best looking speaker for me will always be the Yamaha NS1000M - without grilles. If the Kralk TDB12 looked like them, I'd be sold.

Personally I prefer the look of the Kralks. I do like the Yamaha’s though. In the flesh they look nicer than they do in pics. I don’t know the Yammys very well. I did hear them in Gilson Audio a long time ago but it was on the shop floor and I don’t know how good the setup was. My memory of the sound was thin and bright with very little bass.

I've heard them once and the sound was poor, but the system was not suitable for them. You can't just hook up any old flat earth tat to a speaker like that. It'll show up every grain of distortion.

I love the look of the bigger ones, actually prefer it to the Yammys. Not sure whether I'd see much improvement over my Pioneers though.
Some will say my vintage speakers are cack but I haven't heard anything bother than Macca's JMLabs that would even make me look twice.

If I was in the market for speakers, they would be high in my list. I’m getting ever more sucked into omnis presentation though, so the ship seems to have sailed for me. Going back now would be akin to returning to black and white TV,

I like that big Kralk.
The Yam is to white van man looking Macca.
And klipsh speakers looks like car boot sale speakers.
Nope the Kralk is purposeful.

Not knocking Kralk. I like what they're doing and the prices are good, but the some of the drivers are familiar to me, being generic Chinese items. Decent enough ones though.

That I didn’t know, but as long s they are decent, it wouldn’t put me off. I don’t love to see a video of where and how they are made. I know it’s a small operation so it would be interesting.
