I was thinking this morning about the number of boxes I have on the rack that need a mains connection.
Now we all know that separates are better than all in one, remember those dreadful Midi systems where it was all in one 'box' but styled to look as if they were separate units?
Well my total is 11, jeez that's a lot, it's 12 if you count my recently acquired portable cassette deck though that is generally used elsewhere.

Four here. I was down to two (cd player and power amp) but now I have separate DAC and the pre-amp needs power even though it's passive.
In Lord Sugars biography he claims to have invented the midi-system - like he's proud of that Sh#t! In his own words the intention was to give the punter 'A mug's eyeful'. Whereas the quality of the electronics inside was rock-bottom.

Eight here, including a headphone amp. If I were to add my Sony ES Tuner and my Cassette deck, I would be in double figures.

I had six and was considering some more boxes just before or after the digital source. Too mutch clutter in that vision! Even with six powered boxes, I found that cable dressing issues were a bit too complicated to keep as I'd like for SQ. So four at the moment and will max at five if getting a DDC... but then I don't have any analog sources to manage.

Seven, plus four for the home cinema in a separate room. It is pretty crazy.
When I was a kid I remember my mate’s folks had the classic Amstrad midi system. I was so envious at the time.

Active speakers and dual subs . . . . so errr . . . .
13. I am planning on running a couple of DAC's so it could be 14 . . . .
Something to consider when I get the electrician round to set up my isolated ring for my system.
"Yes you heard me correctly Lee, that's 20 outlets I would like on that one wall please."
Madness.
No one is ever going to buy my house.

No one is ever going to buy my house. when I had the sparky round for re-wiring I asked him to quote me for ten outlets where there are currently two. His face was a picture. Bought my house off a sparky so thee are quite a few outlets already, unlike most old houses. There's about ten in the kitchen and one of the bedrooms was his teenage son's so that has four two way sockets and a single.

Actually if you count the Harmony remotes, then +2 on each!
Talking of sockets, this is what my sparky found for me. This is an old photo from when the HC room was decorated, also had a couple of these installed behind the hifi in the lounge last year.
Each panel has 4 mains and then spaces for euro modules of whatever else you need.

That's a dream I have yet to realise. TripleC wiring in the wall with copper terminal outlets. Plug in and enjoy. Quality.

Yeah the blue cables going to the back of the Oppo (since departed and replaced with an Arcam AVR390 used as a processor) are connected to 6* RCA sockets on the wall plate which go to the 5 active speakers + sub (which I then daisy-chained on to another identical sub). The grey switch on the left hand one is a master switch for the power to the 5 actives. The binding posts on the left hand one go to ceiling speakers in the adjacent kitchen, I’m running them off zone 2 of the AVR right now. Also got usb power, Ethernet, TV aerial and F-connector sockets from the sky dish. The beauty of these is that any euro module can be fitted so it’s endlessly flexible for you needs.

13 in use at the moment I think that is enough though I am not into leaving everything on all the time so no risk!

what's your record for daisy-chaining multi=way power strips? I have 3 x 6 ways in a daisy chain that run the computers, TV, AV system and various chargers.

I'm sure they do, it was just with the port being low down on the front and not immediately seeing the grills, I blame the all black finish as well as my old eyes
