Just wondering what people here do.
Anyone polish mains plugs or treat with Deoxit?
Anyone’s plug and unplug speaker cables or phones?
How often do you take the kit out of the rack to dust?
What do you use to clean?
Any white glove users?
Me? I dismantle everything about once a month. I dust with a micro-fibre cloth and Servisol foaming cleanser. I use a make-up brush on buttons and recessed areas. I don’t polish mains plugs although I used to thirty years ago. Never used Deoxit.
Anythjng else I should be doing?

I don't need to go to the extent of cleaning connections etc, as I don't keep any kit long enough for it to start oxidizing 🤣🤣🤣🤣. #boxswapper
Seriously, a wipe with an Anti-static cleaner every now and again is about it. I sometimes get some Chrome cleaner on the SP10 platter due to its tendancies to get covered in fingerprints.

imho the most important thing is the speaker cables never use banana plugs always bare wire and keep them nice and tight...once a month i check them I'd never willingly allow a numpty customer to use speaker cables with bare ends, as it only takes one strand to short circuit an amplifier output stage... I could never hear the difference between bare ends and a properly attached banana plug and today, I favour the 'Z-slit' 4mm plugs as they can be opened up to get a snug fit with maximum contact area! They're bit frail though and I needed to replace a couple on my LS5 cables as they'd been 'used' rather a lot.
When I had three D-60's in the amp space in my cabinet (bridged pair plus one for headphones), they went several years without being touched. You'd have been horrified if you'd seen how they looked when they came out (when the Krell went in).. If it ain't broke, don't fix it with OCD cleaning is my motto these days...

A feather duster, or as Ken Dodd would have said, A Tickling Stick.

The problem with cleaning is that you spend ages to do a proper job...then 10 years later you have to do it all over again.

I’m very careful when dismantling, so many scratches and blemishes can be caused by mishandling. Trailing phono plugs and banana plugs are a common cause of scratches. I’m always glad when it’s back in situ.
My dabbling is really only cosmetic. I’m not a massive believer in cleaning contacts. I did it with Duraglit back in the day but heard nothing to suggest any effect.

I just dust every week or so and spring clean once a year - that'll mean cleaning the connections but only on speaker cables.
