All depends on what you're bringing with you, I'm sure a big bag of sausage rolls and some nice bits of kit should get past the bouncer Ian My local bakery does some great pork pies. I'll have a think about bringing kit but I'm not sure any of mine beats what's already coming. Pork pies will certainly do, I'll bring the the English mustard, as for the kit, that's fighting talking

Good Day to all just joined the forum and been asked by another member to attend this event which I would be very happy to do . I will be collecting a power amp which is a great way to get a nice day out and a new piece of equipment .
I can bring along a few items that can be used such as a Denafrips DAC , Haffler Power Amp and anything else that might be of interest .
Apologise for asking this as my first post but I would like a little bit of assistance . I have sold an Arcam D33 DAC to a member on the Wam Jules S who lives near Southampton . We were going to use the services of another member who does regular trips up north but that has fallen through . So is there anyone attending this event from the South who could move the DAC nearer to Jules so he could collect . Any help would be appreciated . John (Lurch) would have been ideal but I gather he can not attend this one .

bencat What have you replaced the D33 with, it's supposed to be very good, although I have never heard one? (hint hint)

antonio Well as it has sold sadly if I have it on Sunday it is not something I could let be used as it not mine . I will say that it is a very good DAC I replaced it with a dCS Delius / Purcell combination which is quite a big jump up in price to get a quite small improvement in sound quality .

Am weighing the odds whether I'll have fought off Covid by the weekend or succumbed more fully... the outcome will obviously affect whether I can be at the cricket club on Sunday. On no! Just seen this Bruce. Hope you manage to shake it off Gutted to miss tomorrow with all of you due to being poorly!

Big thanks to Oli, Al, Tony and others for organising and putting in the effort to make sure there was some great kit there today.
Looking forward to updates from others but I had a great time and met some great people.
Was good to put some faces to the comments finally!
Cheers all who came and sorry to those that couldn't make it, I'm sure it'll happen again sometime soon though.
Really good turnout
Chris.

Just a brief note to say thank you to all the organisers and all those that attended the bake off today . This was my first on this forum and there was lots equipment and things today not to mention people to bore with my view point . Very interested in the use of the Mutec 3 for digital playback will have to look harder to see if I can secure a second hand unit .
Listening to lots of different DAC's one after the other was interesting but hearing the saqme track over and over quite rapidly became a little tiresome . So much so that I skipped letting my Denafrips DAC being used as i could not take another rendition of Money For Nothing .

You have to play the same track or it's impossible to keep things fair. Maybe should have stuck to maybe the first 30 seconds of something distinctive. We could have got through it a lot quicker. I certainly didn't need the whole track to know what was happening. Lesson learned for next time. Still, it was interesting. Great to meet you today and appreciate you making the trip 👍

I am almost glad I did not make the 1000km+ journey to listen to “Money forNothing” leaving my “chicks for free”. 😉

I don't think you need to play the full song either when doing a demo, but I do know some people like to do that, it's why I didn't say anything A quick change of song could also be done if anyone wanted a second comparison, this way it would have done in half the time and given us more time for chatting and drinking.

It'll develop as more happen. That was the first Audio Addicts Bakeoff. I'll make an effort to get to a few others and see how it's done elsewhere and maybe pick up some tips. I'm going to try and get down to Ian's DAC Bakeoff in June. He's only down the road from me.

Great thanks to Alan, Oli and Tony, plus fellow attendees for a very enlightening day. Dr Who would be impressed with the wall to wall reclocker.

Given we started off leaving a damp, grim Buckinghamshire early morning @ 7am, the day was a very pleasant, entertaining and an enjoyable event. Peter and myself left Himley on a very sunny, warm evening for a slow drive back contemplating that was the feeling of the whole day's structure. The turn was excellent and it was nice to meet old friends, but also new faces the whole vibe of the 'bash' was relaxed and good natured. A respectable amount of music was played as well from all of the system that were there, again this was nice to hear. Alan desevers a special mention for sorting out the venue plus those trousers , Oli for being such a genial host and humping the bigman system along for the ride, caught up with Simon, Ian, Dave and his brother (who's name escapes me sorry), bencat, maybazza, Chris Ali T and to finially met Augus plus all of the others I smiled at but didn't speak to. We just felt that binging along the test equipment would help show people something different and a basic system just to play some music while the others we swapping the Big boxes! I will post more later with images, I just have a big old day of work to getthrough first. Great first effort chaps, well done

I don't have much interest in DACs although the comparison was fun but I missed some of it I think.
Was really interested to hear the Thiel speakers and the big Q Acoustics, both very capable. Also the little Quadral Sedan speakers Tony brought along were very impressive - this despite that all the speakers were battling some difficult room acoustics.
Good to see everyone again and meet some new people although didn't get the chance to chat with some, the time goes so quickly. Plus we forgot to check in with the hotel so had to rush off in case they gave away our rooms. Although found out this morning the place was almost empty.
Thank you to Ollie and Alan for organizing this one, and Steve for giving me a lift there and back - another great day out.
