Built this a while ago, 3 years omg. Anyway haven't looked inside since then and then started reading about quiet voltage regulators. Anyway a couple of AA posts later 🙂 and then the postie arrives with some tarty bits to try. So ordered one of these, a 7812 replacement. www.hificollective.co.uk/content/dexa-newclassd-voltage-regulator-mk2.html£30 so thought I'd give it a try out. Quieter supply can't be a bad thing can it... ?

Anyway this is what it looked like witht the top off. The reg to be replaced is top right with the heat sink attached.

Always like a little HiFi-DIY porn. Well done. Looking forward to listening impressions as they shift!

and I'm looking at my bb3's 7805 and wondering....🤔 The 7805 is on the heater voltage and thus totally irrelevant.....also, when I tried a cheapy Chinese one....it was so hot it was unsafe. Different demands on it. Leave it be.

ok been playing a couple of hours now. Impressions, in a nutshell - better tone and timbre in the bass. The notes seem to have more body to them. This makes music as a whole more "solid" or "rounded" for want of better words.
Not less detailed or dynamic but more synergistic, sounds kind of odd but that's how I would describe it atm. more later. Certainly a positive effect though.
