@laranx
Give Al at Alchris a shout about speakers.
He had some in the same sort of shape as the Yamaha NS1000M, and that style benefit from close proximity to a wall for low frequency extension.
By all means have a listen to the NVA gear.
Sometimes ease of purchase and the option to listen prior to any purchase make that first step into audio a lot easier.
Keep us informed!

If you do go NVA then go all NVA except perhaps the speakers. Their stuff really does work at it's best as a piece, saying that as a former owner of it. Loudspeakers are the most important component by far so you really do need to give that some thought and research. Good loudspeakers would not be wasted on anyone, everyone will hear the benefit of that, even random people you drag in off the street. Keeping children off them is an issue I agree. There are models that sit low to the floor, blu-tak them to the stands, they won't be able to knock them off or over. Like these for example klhaudio.com/model-five-pairFor an NVA user like myself I think their Cubes are the highlight of the range, although I don't think they are being made at the moment. Great sounding speakers are wasted on no one like you say, might as well go to Currys if you think like that

can't beat spending other peoples money for them. Especially on a rainy Sunday afternoon in October. I like that flash looking TT you picked out. Still think my pick is the best tho

Always difficult Macca to pick out what is best, I also looked at a couple of DD from Pioneer and Denon, not only that I haven't spent as much on speakers as I originally suggested although I did see a nice pair of Tannoys but priced at £1400, leaving a shortfall on the budget. I have always liked Revel speakers every time I've heard them, I believe they are great vfm and the ones I chose would certainly not be the weak link.

The Mission 752 Freedom is a classic and a stone cold bargain to boot, loved mine to pieces when I had them for years and if were me, they'd be doing speaker duty - circa £150 for a nice used pair is nuts.
They kept up with every upgrade I threw at them, I spent thousands on modding my Technics 1210 and they always sounded great.
Importantly non fatiguing, detailed, organic and glorious vocals, in the mids where the music is, all from the excellent Aerogel mid bass driver. Nice silk dome tweeter so no ear ache.
Leaves plenty for the rest, including the all important (IMO/E), quartz locked, battleship, super reliable, easy maintenance, pretty much plug n play Technics 12XX, which again I feel should be a key recommendation / component of the system.
