Of course I can't Robbie, someone has to keep this hobby lighthearted otherwise some audiophiles may end up with their head stuck up their own a---holes.

Back to the plot … 😀 They look great. Curious though.. are the ‘stands’ dedicated Spendor ones, and are those them spike shoes? Interested as I’m turning my attention to speaker isolation for my Ektas. Got some small outriggers arriving and thing about damping vs absorbtion, platforms vs bars vs feet etc etc.

The black plinth base is part of the speaker, found on the Spendor D'series. The spike feet are not dedicated Spendor ones, they are the Soundcare Superspikes, www.bkelec.com/superspikes/M8SS_Inserts.htm which are excellent in my experience, they work, tightening bass and bringing improved focus, I found - a bit of billy bargain, especially when you consider what those things can cost, (Gaia, Townsend etc). They blend and complement the speaker better IMO, and more to my liking than Gaia for example, which I find a bit visually prominent.

I know I have mentioned this before but if you are are going to do a bit of experimenting then consider buying some Aircraft Vibration Damper mounts . The ones using springs are the ones you need . When they arrive buy a bottle of baby oil and put the unis in a zip lock plastic bag then put all the mounts in and pour in the baby oil and seal it . Leave for a couple of days then remove the mounts and allow them a day to drain . The spring mounts will now be fully lubricated and move very freely . At this stage I wiped them dry and used either enamel or hammerite black paint to make them look nice. Then get yourself off to Dunhelm and buy two sets of granite coasters . Glue the mounts to the middle of the coasters and you now have some very effective spring loaded feet . The top of each mount has a hole in to which your average spike will go in to and with one per corner you will have full isolation but really steady support . The whole full set for my Quads was about £55 but the mounts are getting a bit scarce now as others , probably because of me have going on about them so may be a bit more now .

My quote had nothing to do with you buying a Audionet amp, never crossed my mind, my quote was in reference to you returning the Hautonga and jokingly asking you about if you would be looking for another amplifier. Now please take back your nasty quote or do you have your head 'stuck up your a--e'? I will add in evidence all the nice/good things I have said about your purchases, liked posts and my disappointment in you having to return said amp.

Absolutely Andrew, I don't go forcing my will on anyone, why Robbie would go and make such comments is beyond me. My approach to hifi these days is 'do what you want it's your money', I don't like to see folks spend more than they have to though.

…. aaand back to the plot again. Hadn’t realised those spike shoe things were so inexpensive. My only fear is drilling… don’t mind a small wood screw, but they need something a bit more substantial. Still… food for thought.

FFS......
Seriously, Twice in the space of a few days now i find myself interjecting in a thread with two long established members getting tangled in a bit of nonsense. One of whom was involved in the previous occasion!!
Gentlemen, play nice please. No one here should need to be told this!

Robbie, show me the proof where I have ever insulted you. I have never said you are up yourself and have never used the word Diva. Nah.. that’s the value of subliminal advertising. Someone’s being a diva and needs a Snickers. Probably best to move on. It’s Robs speaker thread .. not just that but I’m really really interested in learning how to maximise what I’ve got and learning from others experience.

Hi Robbie… back on track so happy days and please let’s chill everyone. So in my basement room I’ve got Arke Ekta’s 34 kg worth of Jason’s magic Troels. Here they are squashing lower rated Townshends. I’ve got these arriving any minute. They have an m8 inserted thread. So I’ll experiment with some Gaia I have from the sitting room system. Also been eying up some Stack Audio Auva 50’s, which apparently are better than Gaia, but look similar. Problem with the spike boots is needing substantial drilling to fit the inserts. These little plastic outriggers only need small wood screws. And the weight of the speakers would just rest on the feet with the screws doing little but holding in place. If all that makes sense?

… and of course having an M8 thread means that I could also experiment with the spike boot things. A relatively cheap gamble.

Nice speakers.
Those spike feet look very interesting Steve.
One big plus with the Superspikes is that they are not spikes really, as in pointy sharp things. You can slide and move the speakers around easily on the hard wood floor.
Each foot also height adjustable so you can get the speaker perfectly level, regardless of surface.

Thanks Robbie. Taken me ages to get the sound near to how I’ve heard them elsewhere (Jason’s and Oli’s). Big help has been a triple c usb from the streamer (cheers Chris) However mainly it’s been a positioning trial and error process… especially as now I’m getting that great supporting bass on vinyl and digital. However can’t help wanting to see how far I can take them. This pic shows how the threads on the outriggers will give me options.

Those look like a great option Steve, spot on, looks like manufacturers think of everything, thank God They're what I'd go for, and then it'd be the SoundCare Superspikes, but of course the choice is yours

Ok, so the outriggers have arrived. Which was a bit of a relief as off to Malaga in the early hours. Also had to ironically bless Evri for leaving it on the doorstep, so stealth delivery achieved. The fact that they didn’t knock or leave with a neighbour as instructed worked in their (well mine) for once. Too many questions otherwise. Have to say they are more substantial than I thought, but I’m going to have to avoid over tightening. Looking forward to more experiments when I get back.
