..and how are you finding the rest of it Barrington? Following the conversation I had with him a few hours a go. I would say his level of excitement with the BBu has him grinning like a loon and walking around like John Holmes in his movie heydays. π³π³ππ

I know, he's coming the week between Xmas & New Year. I'm looking forward to it, but also not, from financial perspective, as I get the feeling from what he said about it that I will, be offloading all my excess kit to buy one. Well with no longer selling the MB845SEs there's a big hole in the finances for the BBu so it looks like the Nords, Koetsu Black, GR 1042 and Very Very early 401 (serial # 1205 made in April 63) will be going into the classifieds.

Is this your unit or the loaner unit? This will be the unit I send out to the select few who proffer genuine interest. That will only include people who have a strong history here, such as yourself. The build cost is stupid, and so is the effort that's has gone into making it, so I feel quite protective and terrified of it getting lost in the post, or broken. So what are these selling for?

Β£3500 But I'm looking at some sort of discount scheme for existing BB3 owners....only those that have bought directly from me though. No concrete decisions yet though.

Yes, not cheap this one, but it was never going to be. We had a "performance over price" approach and that's always going to be expensive.

..and how are you finding the rest of it Barrington? Well I thought I give it a few days, given it is still breaking in. BAZA, what does it sound like? Well Bigbottle heritage is there in the sound signiture however, thatβs where comparisons to its predecessors ends. Soundstage, tambre, air, imaging and fluidity is delivered effortlessly with a natural gravitas, rather than big, even though the sound coming from my speakers is now two feet wider than all my other sources. It naturalness in sound arises from its unflashy presentation, and yet at the same time, its digging more information out of the black stuff, as a matter of fact, like itβs always been there, but you have not heard before. It is a killer phonostage, especially next to digital. If you hear it you will want it.

I'm just hearing one with a proper power supply for the first time....."straight out of the box" it's staggering how much improvement there is over the BB3. As you say, that heritage signature is there, but it's far far better. I know that I can't say too much due to my obvious "stands to profit" position, but if I could, I'd have a lot to say.

How do you alter the impedance? Did I miss something - is this MC only?

How do you alter the impedance? Did I miss something - is this MC only? There are jumpers on the PCB. You just move them to the required setting. It is MM and MC, but I've only built this one in MC. Only needs the switch adding though.

Glad to hear you are still supporting the MM paupers

There is no reason you can't have both! Yeah, I get ya about loading, but having the jumpers actually lowers noise, just a smidge, but it all adds up

Yeah, long time coming but it's very rewarding to get it up an running. Some fine tuning to do, but I'll have a bash at it later.
