As Macca would say, in a blind test how much of a difference is there between all the amps he has listed.

The more expensive pair have higher quality parts on the amplifier and power supply boards. Better quality components, particularly on the amp boards, should have a positive impact on sound quality.

Welcome Ian! Seeing your name here just adequately reminded me about those loading plugs 😳 Send me a message and we'll sort them out. Good to see you here 👍 Oliver.

Put these f5 clones with the tannoy Eaton legacy. incredible grip soundstage is massive. What a match !! These tannoys loved sugden a21se and these are even better with the bc pre ( dc3) .

Does that surprise you Phil? When you say they are even better with the BC pre, what other pre did you use, ever thought of a nice passive?

gosh antonio , i think i have used about 30-40 pre amps over the years . not with the f5 of course . the sean jacobs dc3 psu lifts the performance of the bc pre 3 vbs pretty high . with the vbs1 its about level with the mfa classic v2 . with the dc3 its a lot higher . Had most of the mfa passives and at one point had the ref5 and mfa baby ref together to try and compare . the baby ref was and is superb. what makes the bc pre 3 easy to use is the remote. it has 200 steps . so i use 2 BC pre amps [ vbs] in 2 systems

I think we were at crossed purposes here Phil, your original post said "and these are even better with the bc pre ( dc3)". I did not need to know your pre amp history only what the BC replaced. Maybe I have misunderstood your wording and the BC is the only pre you have used.
