Anyone enjoying this rather far fetched tale on bbc one ? I love anything with martin compston in [ line of duty ] HERE has been controversy over the plot of the new BBC drama Vigil, which appears to feature a Scottish fishing boat, the Mhairi Finnea, being dragged deep into the sea after a submarine is snagged in its nets. Viewers must wait to see if it was HMS Vigil that sank the fishing boat or some other nation’s submarine, presumably Russian. It was a very powerful part of the opening episode on Sunday night, and immediately sparked memories of a real-life tragedy in which the trawler Antares was sunk by Royal Navy nuclear-powered submarine HMS Trenchant in the Arran Trench off the Isle of Arran in the early hours of November 22, 1990. www.thenational.scot/news/19547219.vigil-true-story-antares-trawler-sunk-submarine/

I am enjoying it Phil, with an understanding that some of it is far fetched for dramatic effect.
I can't believe a sub could shadow another one without detection these days. Plus simplistic problems/shutdown/rebooting the nuclear reactor. Entertainment is the name of the game.

I have to sacrifice somethings being over here, enjoying the easy going life style and warm weather, it's definitely the sort of programme I would have enjoyed.

For a good crime drama ( based on a true story) about a submarine check out The Investigation on BBC iplayer 6 episodes. A Danish production with subtitles, I think you'll find it better than Vigil.
