Anyway, it seems like Matt, of Funk Firm fame is taking on Croft supply in the U.K..

Is this the same Matt who was defending that Houdini gadget? Is this Matt guy building it? Can't get to the facebook page. |

Hello all, so as you can see I have renamed this group "Fans of The Funk Firm" in order to distinguish us from "The Funk Firm" official closed group. Also I have invited Kevin Hibell to be administrator going forward. This will be officially the place for "Fans of The Funk Firm" going forward. I will take a backseat and move on with my venture Sonik Kables & Accessories. This week I was in talks with a major UK manufacturer to help with their overflow producing Hi End Cables. I will be setting up a small team in Birmingham UK to cope with this. Also this week I confirmed a deal with Glenn Croft (Croft Acoustics) to supply his range of amplifiers in the UK as he ramps down his production going into retirement. As of now there is a three month backlog on Croft Amplifier orders. As a personal friend of Glenn I can help mitigate that if you order with me. Thank you and over to Kevin. 3 month backlog, he's the Caterham of the hi-fi industry. I mean that in a good way ofc.

Has he retired? My pre-amp was going to have a wee holiday, now I'm not so sure. No way would I be sending anything to Croft for upgrades if it Glenn wasn't at the soldering iron, doing the work. Sorry, but no way. I mean, I sent mine to Alan anyway, but that's besides the point 🤣 |

Of course time passes us so quickly, people we looked up to in our teenage years (more for my age group, just turned 65) are passing away, and this will happen in the hifi industry as well. Designers who many have great respect for from the eighties will rightly retire and it is a sad loss to the industry, to be honest I don't know how Colin Wonfor keeps going like he does, said he was retiring, yet seems as busy as ever when I read the forums.

That lead time will only increase as word gets around and Glenn is swamped, I would expect a cut off date to be be announced very soon, if you want Glenn to work on your kit better get it booked in now.
I suppose used prices will rise accordingly in the future on those that Glenn himself worked on.
Be interesting to see if Croft remains or just fades away.

That lead time will only increase as word gets around and Glenn is swamped, I would expect a cut off date to be be announced very soon, if you want Glenn to work on your kit better get it booked in now. I suppose used prices will rise accordingly in the future on those that Glenn himself worked on. Be interesting to see if Croft remains or just fades away. I think the brand will remain, too much cachet for it to die so someone will take it over. he hit the sweet spot with his last designs, right pricing niche and a sound that appeals to a lot of people. I think they will carry on although probably end up being made in China eventually. |

My Croft Series 5 is currently with firebottle having some bling fitted. I think I'll probably hang on to it now. |

Croft is easy to say in Chinese though...
I am sure that people will be queuing up to buy the brand. Whether it will be the same afterwards, who knows?
