Hi, guys, I have a Yamaha 5.2 ch AV receiver. Is there any way to use the receiver as a stereo 2 ch receiver? I just want to play music CDs (or listen to an FM station) and hear good sound from a pair of speakers set up in front of me. Thanks for input.

Hi, yes you can easily do this. Connect a stereo source (either to analogue stereo or one of the digital inputs), hook up a pair of stereo speakers to the Front L and Front R speaker outputs, select the relevant input and away you go. The only thing you might have to do that is much different from using a stereo amp is select from the available sound modes until the AVR is passing through the stereo sound unmolested rather than trying to apply some surround sound jiggery pokery to it.

What's the model number of the Yamaha.
Can be done but ideally you need to select analogue bypass mode, which is called different things on different receivers.
