Does this stuff actually work? If so, what benefit could it give me under things like my DAC?

I loaned a set and stuck it under the sub I had here They did seem to reduce a hell of a lot of transference into the floor. Never tried them before though, or anything else to use in that position. I've seen used ones for sale somewhere?

Using with solid-state equipment? Absolutely no benefit at all. Save your money.

And for my hybrid pre-amp?

If it has valves in it then it's a maybe. I've not seen any vibration tests done on valve equipment.
Although if you consider that Chinese and Russian jet fighters used valves extensively, and the vibrations and G-forces they would be subjected too...and yet they still work fine.

Yes but have you seen the construction of Russian military valves?

I thought everyone was using Russian military valves in their equipment nowadays though? Seriously though I agree it is still a grey area when it comes to valves and vibration

Ignoring the inevitable screams from macca for documentary proof from triple blind trials, I recently had a go with some small BR platforms and found that they could have a very significant effect on the sonics of solid state gear.
Too often they sounded like a tone control giving a hefty treble cut, also dampening down small dynamic changes. I couldn't hear any upsides. I moved them on pronto.
Of course, if your system is sounding coarse and aggressive then they may be exactly what you want.

I may give these a miss, and look at some better speaker cables instead.

Actually it wasn't blind tests I was referring too - the output of solid state amps and DACs was measured before and during them being violently vibrated, there was no difference to what they output. I put washing machine feet under a solid state amp, took then out again because the effect was similar to what you describe - do I think they changed what the amp was outputting to the speakers at all? No. So much science has to be wrong for that to be true and that's very unlikely. So there's only one other explanation.

Some folks swear by BR products. I supposed it's a case of suck it and see.

Under speakers or a sub or a tt, maybe even a cd player, yeh they can do stuff 100%. Under a dac or a solid state amp, nope, never. Under stuff with valves, possibly.

Not worth the gamble then.
