I am an audio fan that built the system up from an old turn table and an old tape deck and over the years things got better and better. I still have a budget system, I still have my old Magnat all ribbon 8 in the cupboard in the hallway, they served me 30 years. Recently i bought the q accoustics 3050 and ran them on my Arcam alpha 8 pre and power amp, after my mate Chris (Snowdog) bought a tube amp I was Blown away by the sound and bought a Knobsound pre amp, since that change my mind was made up and I am still running this configuration. As I am not financially able to do any thing at the moment this is what it is, but I have never been happier with my sound then recently.

Howdy and welcome.
I'm fairly fond of the Arcam Alpha series from the 90's. I use an Alpha 7 CD Player and like it very much.

If I’ve learned anything over the last thirty odd years, it is that your level of happiness with your system and it’s soud has very little to do with how much you’ve been spent. It sounds like you’ve made a really positive change with the valve pre. If you don’t change a single thing for a good while. At least you will have time to ehjoy and appreciate the sound you have. Many a time I look back at fondly remembered systems and wish I’d not changed so fast. Welcome to AA (always wanted to say that!) and I’m glad you’ve already got a mate here.
