Quite often I think we spend too much time worrying over our hardware and not on the vinyl. Surely the vinyl can be used to "tune" a system? I now find myself spending my money on better quality vinyl. I have quite a few labels that I love, so I thought for a little fun I'd ask you guys about your favourite labels. Here's some of mine
Favourites
------------
Mobile Fidelity Nimbus Hi-Q MPS
Over hyped
--------------
Gearbox records - Recordings are only soso.
ok, it's only a starter now over to you guys!

I was never much for re-issues, always went for original pressings, either NOS or second hand. Vast majority of my collection is original pressings except for the stupidly expensive ones like Zeppelin 1 thru 4. Maybe not always the best sound but the most authentic sound. Once the 'vinyl revival' got underway there were too many punters after o/ps so the prices for everything went up although had most of what I wanted by then. last vinyl LP I ever bought (Queen - Flash Gordon Soundtrack o/p) is still sealed in the record mailer. It can never be opened or touched. I don't even look at it. Only good thing they ever did apart from 'Seven Seas of Rhye' For re-issues - if I was slumming it - I vote Mobile Fidelity. Good quality outer sleeves. The worst? CBS 'Nice Price.'

I've got a few Classic Records Quiex cuts. Beth Orton, Muddy Waters, Zepp
Sound pretty good to me although I understand some of the Zep cuts can be erratic on quality.

CBS in the 1960s often had superbly transparent and visceral classical recordings that were very different from the Decca, DGs and EMIs of the period. They were often a bit bright and forward, but sometimes absolutely hit the spot. Try the recording of Bloch's Schelomo with cellist Leonard Rose, that gets my vote as one of the best classical recordings ever. www.discogs.com/Leonard-Rose-Cello-Concerto-Schelomo-Rhapsody-For-Cello-And-Orchestra/release/3427778 Also available and sounding fab on the streaming services. Sorry. )

Everest were a fantastic sounding classical label from the 50s and 60s,they recorded on 35mm magnetic tape which seems to impart a very impressive sense of presence and tactility to the sound. Originals sometimes to be found in charity shops, but also now re-issued on rather expensive 45rpm vinyl. These have obviously become a collectors item. www.mcru.co.uk/product-category/music/vinyl/everest-classic-records/

I also keep a look out for the early DECCA wide band labels these seem to be very well

Analogue productions is by far my favourite, music matters, blue note, speakers corner, sundazed, stockfish are all great too
Never had a bad one from any of this lot.
Mofi can be good too but their QC and success with better SQ aren’t 100% . I’ve sent a few back.
