Just Add Speakers!I am proud to announce the launch of Starkrimson™ Integrated. This integrated amplifier combines Orchard Audio’s existing BOSC™ amplification and PecanPi® DAC technologies into a single enclosure. The inputs are either USB or S/PDIF. Just add speakers. Starkrimson is one of a very few integrated amplifier on the market which uses gallium nitride (GaN) technology. GaN transistors provide the following sonic/sound benefits over their traditional silicon counterparts: less harshness; cleaner highs; better transparency; and higher detail. This is because GaN transistors have increased slew rate, reduced ringing, faster switching, and faster overload recovery. What is unique about this integrated amplifier is that it provides access to both the DAC outputs and amplifier inputs; this enables the connection of devices like digital signal processors (DSPs) and preamps between the two. Starkrimson is currently available with introductory pricing at $1995. MSRP is set at $2495. A treasure trove of specifications, photos, and measurements awaits at www.orchardaudio.com/starkrimson

That looks the business Leo, but 'Starkrimson'?
What sort of name is that. I think I am just verbalising what most will be thinking.

That looks proper minimalist leo, lovely stuff.
Is the volume control a digital one that can be bypassed?

Is the volume control a digital one that can be bypassed? It is digital volume control. The range of volume control is from 0 to -80dB in 0.5dB steps. (Just like the PecanPi DAC) It is completely disabled when the pot is turned fully clockwise allowing you to control volume over USB or S/PDIF. (Just like the PecanPi DAC) It is also muted when the pot is turned fully counter-clockwise. (Just like the PecanPi DAC)

Vinyl heads will maybe not know this and think its just a Dac-in-the-box with an amp.

Run DAC output into a preamp, and run any other input to that same preamp. Then run the output of the preamp to the amplifier input. This is exactly the point. This integrated amplifier give you those kind of options.

I’m guessing that XLR/RCA adapters will be available, as seen on the latest Pecan DAC. I’m having another Pecan shipped today with adapters (don’t ask it’s not a pretty story- just one of my own ineptitude). Be really interesting to hear this when the current hostility is over, which I would assume the new distributors could facilitate?

Hostility- the expression used during World War 2 and others .. when the current hostilities are over. See you on the other side. Cabbage crunchers over the briney.

How come ASR get all the measurements and we don't? Maybe if this website provided an easier way to post images... Plus all the measurements are also on my website which was linked in the original post...

Watched this yesterday, and seen a few of his videos. He seems like a passionate guy. Regardless, Having had the BOSC here with the PecanPi, i can confirm what he says as true. Which is always nice. Another super positive review. well done Leo
