I've just bought a Linx Nebula to go up against the Nait 5 I bought for my second system the winner gets to stay the loser will get sold. I discovered that the Nait 5 can have each input's input sensitivity changed which is a great feature and did improve the sound a bit, I have high hopes for the Linx though and if it wins the 'race' I'll send it off to Gordon Taylor the 'Amp Doctor' for a service. I remember the Nebula when it came out but never had a go on one.

Nice looking amp. I know of the brand but have never heard them, so will be interested how you get on.

But I don't want to wait that long to find out! Is it actually coming from New Zealand - by tramp steamer or something?

Sorry to have left you all hanging I know how much some of you have been looking forward to this but fear no more it's here.
Firstly I'd say the Linx would benefit from a service as although these amps do run hot this example runs very hot so I'll just play one track from each record.
Straight off the bat this amp has huge balls it's the type of amp that bursts into your living room and says 'Come on then'! It got a proper hold on the Dynaudio bookshelf speakers and didn't let go the bass especially
was hugely impressive from a relatively slim cased integrated, this amp is all about musical enjoyment it won't give you crystal clear higher frequencies or the ghostly presence of a long dead musician in your living
room although Grant Green's guitar sounded eerie enough but it will get you involved emotionally in the music which is personally what I look for in an amp electronic Dance music sounds especially good as does
Reggae.
I've arranged to send this off to The Amp Doctor Graham Taylor of Genesis car audio fame who is apparently the man to send these amps to and we've discussed a service a new Alps pot and possible an upgrade to
the on board phono stage so when I get it back I'll do another write up. Needless to say though this is a great amp for the money.
The Nebula was fronted by a heavily modified Rega P2/V LPS/V PSU and was driving Dynaudio Audience 52's with Van Damme LCOFC speaker cables. I played a good cross section of music
Paul Weller - On Sunset
Lynval Thompson - Look How Me Sexy
Chet Baker Quartet - Chet Baker Quartet (Sam Records)
Art Pepper - Art Pepper Meets The Rhythm Section (Analogue Productions)
Kenny Dope - Infected in The House
Grant Green - Born To Be Blue (Tone Poet)

As good and versatile little amp as the Nait 5 is it didn't compete with the Nebula and although many disagree for me it out Naimed the Naim. If I hadn't discovered the the Nebula I would have been perfectly happy with the Nait and it's hard to find fault with but it just didn't have the same excitement.
