I've just committed to buy a Nait 5 for my holiday system for a very reasonable price it will replace the TPA3116 which will form part of a mobile system I want to build.
To begin with I'll use the JBL Control 1's I already have there and later on will replace them with something a bit bigger I was thinking along the lines of Q Acoustic Concept 20 which are around £200 so if anyone has any better ideas I'm all ears. They need to be smallish bookshelf speakers bass doesn't need to be earth shattering but something fast and light on their feet with a good midrange.

If you can find some Sony SS-CSE1 they are very good, particularly if you replace the cable, much better than the average mini-system speakers. These are front ported, unlike the CSD1 (not heard) which are rear ported.

Control One's are not an easy act to follow if you want to keep it small and cheap. I'm using mine on the telly system at the moment and they're hard to fault for the size and price.
From memory the Wharfedale Diamond IV are better than them. Or maybe the Mordaunt Short MS10i.
But if it's for a portable system the ruggedness of the JBL counts too. No veneer to peel away or MDF corners to get crushed. I'd stick with them if I were you.
