As someone else pointed out recently (apologies.. memory shot), but there is an issue of weight distribution. Surely the ‘left side’ of the whole deck is going to be heavier than the right as having a greater proportion of the motor on it. Wouldn’t you need stronger springs/support on this side? Or am I talking bollocks again? the springs are all identical. What changes is the distribution of the lead sheets, which have been balanced by calculating the weight and position of the plate and arm. Looking at the image of the right side of the plinth you can see that the second layer of lead does not reach the edge. Weight distribution was calculated by the previous owner, who was an old engineer, and moreover an audiophile
