Don't know if I will get another tt, but am pissed of with my Pink Triangle PTtoo. I am forever adjusting/levelling the platter, and also the belt comes off on a fairly regular basis, especially when the hole in the centre of the LP is tight on the spindle. For those that don't know, the platter has to come off and the belt put in place, but you have to place a piece of string inside the belt and pull while you lower the platter in place and then hook the belt over the drive wheel, what an f###ing clat. Ok then, if you needed to replace your tt with something easy to use/set-up, that cancels out all suspended/springy nonsense decks what would you go for with a budget of £1000, preferably less. I do have the Rega arm which I could transfer over. One more thing, I tried a Technics SL150 and it was out performed by the PT, so my preference is probably belt drive. I am not after a typical analogue sound, prefer lean and mean.

2nd hand gyrodec. I know , I've got one .So I ok obviously like it . But I'm subjective if nothing else. It is definitely on the lean and mean side like you prefer. A grand might just do it. Plus the arm will take to it like a duck to water.

I had thought of a Gyrodec, the problem being it's springy, and yes I know once set up it doesn't take any faffing with, and also it would be pushing my budget at the moment. Will read up on the Yammie Oli, it does look interesting. I have seen an Avid Ingenium but it's a long way to travel.

Sorry I sorta didn't take it in about the setting up bit. You're right . It's a faff.

Couldn't recommend something I don't like myself. The specs aren't quite as good either. I have a DP 3000. Think the design is neat. The fact it's direct drive wouldn't put me off.

Didn't bother to read all the specification nonsense and just assumed from the photo and it being a Yamaha and all it would be a direct drive. Definitely on the short list along with and Avid and a Rega RP8. Nothing set in stone so opinions are still welcome.

Just been reading up on the Yamaha, a good sounding deck by all accounts, many saying it's top notch although others sending out warnings regarding the arm, not easy to change due to it connecting to a board via computer like connectors, and maybe not easy to repair if it goes wrong. This is of course a worry, especially since I don't have any electronic DIY skills. It still looks bloody good though and certainly a pride of ownership product.

I had seen that Well Tempered, just didn't fancy trying to set the arm up. I don't have any real knowledge on setting up tt's and don't know anyone nearby.

I've fallen in love with it's looks, what do the experts think and would they cough up for it. I guess there could well be import charges on top. Mind you there's still a couple of others in the running, an Avid and a Notts Analogue with spacearm.

You are entering into SP10 territory with the customs duty on top of the asking price.

One of the these on eBay for £500 with 6 months guarantee - and an A&R P77. Has the same specs with integrated arm as the Pioneer PL-C590 Karpenter Karma had; not half as nice style wise, however. Have one of these as well.
At the end of the day, it all depends on what you're really wanting from a turntable. If you really like what the PT does, could you not just have it looked at?

Hang on a mo. Sorry to upset the apple cart but my mates had Jap turntables like these circa 1980 and they sounded a bit naff. All I'm saying is listen ... don't just plump for the looks .😕
