Oh, I like the look of this. Unfortunately, I cant see a way to get one between my PecanPi and the RPI.

I've got a similar device - Wyred4Sound Recovery. Quite a noticeable up in sq. That Oehlbach looks a real bargain at the reduced price!

Yes, I know - damn it! Wish I'd paid 49 Euros rather than $149. But it has put in sterling service for a year or more, so I guess I can't complain.

Luck of the draw Jerry, especially with Amazon purchases. No problem to a man of your means though Jerry.

Jerry what dac do you use it with? I've got 3 DACs atm, kind of in rotation, an Audiobyte Black Dragon, Chord 2Qute (with Teddy Pardo PSU) and the one on-board a Lexicon DC-1. The Lexicon is currently plumbed in.

Bit of a numpty question Can this be utilised with a raspberry pi? I’ve only ever used a hat/digi one

Don't see why not Steve. What dac are you using, just insert between Pi and dac.
Sorry I could be wrong, is the Pi doing dac duties. Best wait till @bigman80 sees your post.

No reason why you couldn't insert this between source and usb input on pi Of course itll be declocked with the pi's Sh#t usb receiver clock and then passed to the dac which will no doubt also reclock.
Much better to buy a dac hat with the best clock you can afford and avoid this altogether.
The clocks alone in my fifopi reclocker cost more than this whole device.
Jerry do you find its effect varies with the dac or does it improve them all?

Well my main system has the Pecan Pi !! So the same issue as Oli has. However I’ve also got a pi with a digi+, which I use to output to a chord mojo via optical out. The Pecan Pi is very very good. I’m just convinced there is a way to go yet. Eg raspberry pi/digi one or digi+\ improved dac like the chord qutest or topping d90. Plus there will be improvements to be had on the raspberry pi side. This bit of kit sounds interesting..especially at this price. Just not sure where I would use it in a pi setup!!

If you're not using USB it's not going to be of any use.

Jerry do you find its effect varies with the dac or does it improve them all? I tried the W4S with 3 DACs when I first got it and it improved all 3. So I just leave it be now and listen to music. Of course, the 3 DACs weren't all the same as I have now! I also power it from a Chinese LPSU as I happened to have one spare, and that improved things a bit more but not hugely.

Honestly the only way you can improve a dac connected to a pi that already has decent reclocking is by making sure it's not powered via the pi.

I received my Oehlbach reclocker yesterday, left it to play some music through it last night and done a quick comparison this morning. Using the Topping D30, playing through my NVA amps and speakers this was worth the £50 I paid for it. Removes a touch of digital glare, adds refinement and maybe improves PRaT. I will have to give it a go through my Calyx later, but not expecting quite the improvement since the Calyx has been designed with a better usb than coax input.

As promised I have given a quick (didn't take long to notice the difference) comparison with and without the XXL playing through my Calyx dac and there is definitely an improvement in refinement, more natural and easy to listen to. Tracks by Acoustic Alchemy and Eric Mongrain were used, and just ended up listening with the XXL plugged in. I will say I have not listened to my system for this length of time for a long while (mainly listen to my brother's since it's situated in the lounge) and have noticed an increase in transparency with the upgraded P90sa. Anyway, enough digital, I've just put on a bit of vinyl.

First impressions are that the risk appears to have paid off . There's an improved sense of timing making my system more ' listenable ' There's also more detail and the bass seems to be deeper and cleaner . This is early days of course .

I've been listening to Aldous Harding for the last half hour James and find myself appreciating her songs like never before Low level listening is also much improved .

I was looking at the Oehlbach cables yesterday . They seem to be well thought of and are very reasonably priced on their site , although they don't seem to have all the lengths in stock . Amazon seem to have a better selection . On the subject of the XXL , which I have now had in my system for a couple of days , I have the following impressions to post . Firstly the cheapo QED USB cable seems to be gelling with my system , and the XXL , quite nicely . TBH I'm a bit reluctant to change things at present . Bass is certainly much improved , being both deeper and cleaner . It drives the music along very nicely without becoming overpowering . The mids are also similarly improved , with voices sounding more natural and ' real ' . The top end has also improved , being sweeter and more natural . I was listening to a Count Basie recording recommended by Jimbo of this parish last light , which is an excellent recording , and i was quite taken aback by the quality of the reproduction on my system . The separation of instruments and singers was quite uncanny and probably the best I've heard from any system which I've owned in recent years . Needless to say I had a large grin on my face . Lastly , the wonderfully improved sense of timing which the XXL has brought to my listening pleasure has meant that I'm listening to my music much more often , and I'm listening to artists which I had previously dismissed . This thing ' boogies ' LOL I may buy another of these as a backup because IMO these are fantastic value , even at full price , and I would hate to lose the input from the XXL . Highly recommended .

Glad you are enjoying its input. At £50, it seems like a no brainer!
