Yes looks very good indeed.
I wonder how this compares to Tom Christansens HPA 1 headphone amp?

The HPA 1 has better specs but is a pro build and all smd pcb. This is through hole so a difference there.
As for sound, well early days , initially there was some grain and sibilince which surprised me , but that has gone and atm all I can say is that it sounds very, very "clean". Not sterile though iyswim.
I like what I am hearing but it is certainly different to what I am used to. Will do a proper evaluation when there are a few hours on it.
Also, I am using a different cart to what I am used to atm, an Ortofon 2m red instead of a ZYX Yarra. Sounds a bit flat and with less immediacy than I am use to, but this I think will be a reflection on the cart and the transparency of the HP 2 , not the amp itself.
It will be interesting when I put the ZYX back in as I think I'll really be able to hear a difference.

I see the HP1 gets superb reviews and it is mentioned how clean the sound is which sounds like your experience with the HPA 2?
I think the HP 1 costs Β£500, how much did the HPA 2 cost to build?
I think the 2M red does sound a little thin and flat.

The HPA1 is 899 dollars Β£720ish plus carriage and duty/Vat so approx 1k+ all in I would say.
This cost about Β£300 for the board and case inc duty plus Β£120 for parts inc the Alps.
If you don't by the case then knock off about Β£150 but you will have to source your own and I think it looks very smart.

That's a great price for a quality Headphone amp. I didn't realise the HPA1 was that expensive.

Well done electronumpty, great job there, and I also like the look of the case, matches the Firebottle.

Well done electronumpty, great job there, and I also like the look of the case, matches the Firebottle. Thanks , yes it does, there are quite a lot of components in the small board, 73 resistors and 50 odd caps, so I was a bit nervous when turning it on the 1st time but all seems well atmπ

Ok so thanks to Oliver i managed to get an Audiopills SA to try out in the amp. I was always going to try out something to teplace the Alps Blue at some stage. Wasn't sure about the size as it is considerably bigger than the Alps!

It fits just, very slightly too high as the fron plate is larger than the case but if I file it down but about half a mill it should be ok. Just need to make a bracket for it. A job for next weekend.
