Been using the 2010S2 for a couple months now. This example, the previous owner upgraded the caps. Not really sure if the so-called upgrade was necessary? They share some similarities together in sounding musical and punchy. The 2010S2 is a touch more refined and a speckle smoother. I think the X has more controlled tighter bass though. Not a bad amp. Will it stay?, God knows! S. |

I already said the X we had for a dem was very harsh sounding and hard-clipping may have had something to do with it - it was only a few minths old at the time.
I suspect the later gear sounds lively but not harsh (I think we had an XV or XX later and these were rather fine from foggy memories here).
You must like this amp if it's been in your system for so long.

Nice little amp, the 2010S2. Sounds very open and clear. Wouldn't mind having a touch more refinement. Soneteer Campion keeps tapping shoulder!

Had a wee listen after lunch time. This Exposure sure has plenty snap. Rhythm and timing is also very good. I'm sure Andrew would like this amp.

I’m only guessing here, but given Tony’s background, I’d expect it to have a similar sound to Onix. I’m sure I’d like it too.

I fear the Campion might not grab you quickly enough for it to stay. It really doesn’t show much of its hand until you get well used to it. Lots of things it does incredibly well went right over my head for weeks. It was only when I got on its wavelength that I found how much I loved it. It’s a bit like knowing someone for ages before really looking at them one day and suddenly realising they were incredibly beautiful all along. That’s actually happened to me, so it has resonance. Not sure if it will mean anything to others if they haven’t had the same experience. |
