Half the audiophile world is listening to cans.
Those of us with systems are probably in the minority.

I suppose that makes sense but i wouldn't trade the experience of music via big speakers for a set of cans. Nor would I as I can only stand them on my head for short periods and the experience is so different from full range speakers. However I have been forced to use a pair recently and have therefore investigated this area having tried quite a few. The younger generation don't forget, come from using a phone and pair of earbuds and that is there natural experience of audio and so upgrading to cans and maybe a DAC or headphone amp is a big leap and when its done well is probably the next best think to a HIFI system. I don't know how i got away with listening to a full hifi set up in my bedroom when I was younger but the digital world had not been invented so we had to use vinyl and tape and the natural goto was amp and speakers. Headphones were not really something anyone used then apart from the BBC and they were crap anyway.

I use headphones quite often. I currently have three pairs. Sennheiser HD540 Référence II, HD 650 and HiFiman Sundara. Nothing too expensive, but each one sounds slightly different.

The 650 and Hifiman Sundara are very nice headphones. It is a massive market now and the quality of sound these manufacturers are getting especially out of the Planar designs is superb. I only use them occasionally too as i much prefer listening to speakers so they will never be my main listening tool.
