I have been forced to listen to music mainly on my laptop which is a Macbook Pro upgraded with a new SSD recently. I run the latest Audirvana software which holds all my ripped files and I use XLD for bit perfect ripping. I have been evaluating a number of headphones recently to find a pair that gave me the sort of sound profile I like and recently bought a pair of Philips Fidelio X2s second hand. They are fantastic build quality and very comfortable but more importantly they have at last given me the sound I was looking for and I highly recommend them if anyone is looking for a moderately priced pair of open backed cans. So I took it them into work the other day so a few folk could here what digital music sounded like at a higher resolution other than at MP3 on cheap earbuds on a phone. I was using the Philips X2 headphones with my ripped files on the Macbook Pro and the folk who listened were absolutely stunned. It blew their minds, you should have seen their faces. One chap simply said he had never heard anything like it and another lady told me to take it away as it sounded so good it made her realise just what she was missing! They had never imagined recordings could contain so much detail. Their jaws dropped! I was highly amused.

Not a daft question at all.
