Hello all.
Hung around other places. Oliver suggested I have a look over here.
Recently semi retired so more time to contemplate where my music listening habits were going!
Having lived abroad (India) for a few years meant that I’ve had 2 systems forever, and they’ve evolved out of Linn and Roksan gear.
However to be honest work commitments over a number of years now have left little time to really enjoy listening to music other than in the car.
Looking forward to this changing.
I took the decision to concentrate on one system.. which at present is a Roksan Xerxes, Phonomac AT 1050, Lyngdorf TDAI 2200 and Harbeth 3PESR’s.
Recent additions included a Firebottle Vivant, AT33EV and Pecan pi (with a little help and guidance from you know who!).
The 2nd system is gradually being disposed of with a Kenwood kd 750 +Fidelty Research 24, Allo Boss, various IQaudio stuff, Technics sb M300’s, Apart Champ one - all to find new homes. None of its used anymore and the funds reinvested in one system.
The Roksan will go as well - as Angus/Phonomac is already working on an SP10/AT 1010.
The Xerxes has been fun to resurrect. It sat in the attic for years until I decided to get new blobs and a power supply. The sagging plinth was minimal so didn’t suffer as much as others did.
The lughtbulb moment was putting a phonomac 1050 on it. Quite a leap in sound quality over a Rega rb300.
It led me directly on to finding Angus.
The Lyngdorf and Harbeths will stay... (I think?!!).
So exciting times ahead, with choice of cartridge still to come.
Digital is well covered by the Pecan pi/Tidal/QNAP NAS. Am curious as to whether the Allo USbridge signature will make any improvements by replacing the pi when used in conjunction with the orchard pecan dac.
I’ve tried lifting the jumper (J2) out of the pecan and connect a linear 5v direct to the pi. Resulted in a load of white noise. Not sure why, but guess it needs reconfigured.Scared me off experimenting further but I suspect it’s the way to go.
Interesting to read of others experiences on this forum.. always helps to learn.
