Found a second hand pair still boxed as new, immaculate, for a good price. They do not come for sale up often here.
I found my Wharfedale 10.1's where not realy doing it for me in my bedroom, the room is smallish, and they just were a bit to overpowering, as they sit about a meter away. Also I play them in the room as I go about my daily chores. Outside the room the bass was so bloated it was annoying me.
These little guys are great in this room. Fast, tight and the detail is better near field. Bass not as deep naturally as the Wharfedales, it is however crisper tighter and faster. The glare from the tweeter is there, by just turning the treble down one and the bass up one the bite magically disappears.
They give my Cambridge Sonata AR30 an easier time, and the mid range to my ear and for what I am using them for is better than the 10.1's.
No reflection on the 10.1's played in a bigger room they are great.
These little Klipsch's are getting my foot tapping, quite amazing how much good sound can come out of such a small budget package. The Klipsch house sound is there, either you like it or you don't, it is certainly different from most of the generic sounding alternatives. There is just something Klipsch's do in the mid range that appeals to me.
Next they get hooked up on the Line Magnetic, that should be interesting.
In the mean time I am having a lot of fun listening to them.
Cost me the equivalent of 100 UK pounds which is less than half of what they cost new here. The bloke I bought them from bought the replacement r-41m he is disappointed that he cannot not hear any difference between the two. My gain his loss.
Must admit the newer version does look better with the grills off, at twice the price for them new tough titty.
