I had a Goldring 1042 mm. Very briefly. Typical boring, flat, drab mm shite that extracts all the life and subtlety from the music. Even cheapo moving coil carts piss all over it. ymmv  |

Gotta say, I haven't heard good things about it but I'm pleased it works for you, Harrison.
It would be nice to find a cheap MM cart that could dislodge the Kb's vice like grip on replay duties

Since first hearing an mc cart I've not been able to take mm seriously - in all ways that matter to me mc is simply a superior sound technology. They sound more alive and more like real music imo.
Nagaoka 500, Grado Master Statement (or some such ridiculous name), the 1042 and a few other mms have come and gone and not impressed me.

The trouble with an MC is when the tip wears out you have to buy a whole new cartridge or send the old one off somewhere to be re-tipped, expensive hassle.
With MM you just get a new one and slot it in, no need to even take the cart off the arm. That's why I went back to MM. Now though the replacement styli for good MMs are silly money so I gave the whole thing up as a bad job.
