I have one of those small TPA3116 amps and am looking for a pair of small speakers which would be able to fit in my hand luggage when travelling abroad. My first thoughts are for the JBL 1's but any suggestions are welcome.
Be quick I've got to get them purchased before the end of the month.

If you are willing to spend a bit. I'd recommend the Dali Spektor 1. Nice little speakers.

Looking at the size and weight they look manageable to carry in my hand luggage. Maybe a little more than I wanted to pay (£100), still will bear them in mind. Thanks

I’d probably try Ariston MSX 03, 05 or 07. They go for nowt used and they sound okay. Cabinets are plastic so they don’t weigh much. Easy to drive too.

I've a pair of JBL Control 1 in a small AV system - I can't really fault them for the size, price and functionality.

My budget is about £250 for amp and speakers and have a short list of Q Acoustics 3020i, Mission LX2 and Dali Spektor 2 but may also consider JBL 305P Active monitors.

The Control One Pro version is slightly different from the standard, which itself had a couple of slight tweaks in its life. No idea if the Pro 'sounds' much different or even better and research I did some time back when I got mine wasn't very fruitful apart from seeming to remember the pro was more a 4 ohm load than the stock ones?. I'd suggest the midrange is very good regardless and the top on later ones restrained rather than sparkly as remember the very first ones sold with a sub in a small AV situation. The bass in mine is tuneful but no welly though and at least it's not thumpy or badly extended as many baby boxes are (I remember B&W CM1's which went so far and then stopped).
These Control Ones are passive in both versions I think. For low level listening, the A20 was a delight, the two sonic personalities blending well I felt. Not a 'big' sound, but that's not the point.

I have to say I'm looking forward to receiving and giving the Control 1's a listen. Just hoping they work ok with the cheap Chinese amp, which I waiting delivery on the power supply.

Thanks antonio they look very interesting I’m leaning toward the active speaker solution because it’s just easier connect my smallish Dac/psu and maybe a Chromecast Audio or MacBook and I’m in business.

£75? Were have you been looking? on that ebay auction link you gave. I assumed you were the buyer. Some confusion here, these are not active speakers, and I thought you were referring to Natara's link for the JBL actives which are £200+

Some confusion here ....Yeah, you're not wrong! The JBL Control 1 speakers I thought that I have are active with a master and a slave speaker, remote controlled and well good enough for small AV usage. I got them about 6 years ago, I guess. It seems the current ones aren't like that at all. Sorry to have mis-led you. I can't, I guess, be totally sure about what model I've got as that AV system is 75 miles away so I can't check atm.

Well, the JBL's arrived yesterday so gave them a go through my brothers system, just to see what they sound like. Pretty good considering they cost me £75, will be interested to see if they are better than the Edifiers that I purchased using the Chinese amp.

I've been able to a quick demo between the JBL's powered by the Chinese amp and the Edifier R1700 BT, the source was my Astell & Kern jr. I've only used a couple of test tracks and my preference is for the JBL's, but only just. They are slightly more detailed/leaner, whereas the Edifiers a lighter warmer and fuller bass. I would quite understand anyone else preferring the Edifiers.
