What bit(s) of kit would you sell first?
Always a good way to work out what is "dispensable" I guess. Here goes for me.
First over the side would be my headphone setup. Grados and Schiit with an Audio Innovations preamp acting as a kind of tube buffer. Reason being in not that into headphones.
Next my Petite 3s because I'm not using them.
Then my sub. I've lived without 30hz bass most of my life, so no biggie.
After that the Orton because I have the Campion and wouldn't really miss it if I swapped back. Plus it's got some value.
Then it gets hard. The Artemiz arm is expendable though. I doubt I'd notice much if I changed to a souped-up Rega.
I'd have to be pushed to go further, but my bedroom system would be next to go. Arcam Alpha Plus CD and Elas.
Then I'd sacrifice my DAC and just live with the one box Sonneteer CD.
That would just leave me with my deck, my Byron, my Campion and my Spicas. If I had to go further I'd sacrifice vinyl altogether as I have far more CDs.
As long as I had a roof over my head, that's as far as I could ever go. And I'd still be very happy with a great system. Sure, I'd miss some bits but my core system would still be there.
