It's certainly the most unattractive thing I've ever seen. One of those products where I couldn't care less how good it is, or how cheap it is, I could never own it because of what it looks like.
And I'm guessing it isn't cheap.

Gee whizz, so you can see a couple of signal relays within.
The gain seems low for MM and the rumble filter a bit severe. It's op-amp based for sure, can't see it offering anything special.
.....apart from shear Fugliness in the eyes of Macca, lol.

It reminds me of the front panel from Captain Pike's wheelchair. Or that 'Simon' game from the 1970s.
£990 - not as expensive as I thought it would be. You can switch the rumble filter off if you're feeling reckless.

I love this place, so unfiltered.
I don't know if it would be anything special, just wondered if it was any good. Obviously, it isn't pretty but nothing Chord make is pretty!

It's a grand retail, so knock of 20% for VAT and then some more for the dealer and distributor margins, and then whatever Chord are wetting their beaks with, plus corporation tax, and all the overheads of the business and what's left is what the parts cost.
I bet 90% of what the parts cost went on the cosmetics like the milled aluminum case and the fancy buttons.
But given the case is hideous and the buttons look like someone sucked on some strepsils and then stuck them onto your phonostage for a laugh, it seems to be a total fail.

Yes, its a lot of money for what I suspect is a very simplistic design. Can't help but feel a little wonderment about it though.
