I go through peaks and troughs. I still like to dabble and I'm happy to spend and loose a little money whilst experimenting. I only make big purchases when I really need to and then I'll usually do loads and loads of research to make sure I'm happy with what I'm buying, I'll usually keep that component forever. Same here, very happy with what I have now but always had an itch for field coil speakers so in the process of building the boxes for Rullit silver lab 8 field coils. A friend is designing a power supply then we will see what we think about them. In the scheme of all things field coil they won't break the bank and are not meant to replace what I currently use and love. However if they do float my boat it won't be a bad problem to have, may need another room.

Ooh Bakoon amps, I had forgotten about them. Look incredibly well made. Yes they are, buying new is eye wateringly expensive so I bought used. Best Buy ever. Only 15w but then some of the sets I've had have only been 4w but are not in the same league when used with efficient speakers. All the superlatives mean nothing, get to hear one. View AttachmentWhy? ? Why do they insist on putting these Alps Blue pots in expensive gear? A TKD I'd now accept, but all that money and then this....... BTW, they look great imo. Neat and sophisticated.

The Alps blue pot can't be at all bad with the way it sounds. I don't know that I could handle it any better than it is. Not that I would interfere with it but I wonder what difference if any there would be if the Alps blue pot was bypassed. Another thought, how many of the Alps blue pots that people are using and criticising are genuine.

I think it is 'levels' of transparency. Achieving the ultimate depth and width that is in the recording. Even if the ultimate 'size' isn't there it can still sound very good.
I have heard a system with an Alps blue in that sounded excellent, the supporting kit was top notch so that probably helped.

Unless you're buying your Alps pots from a distributor of listed reseller I'd be surprised if it's legit. I inherited a load of spare parts including a bunch of alps pots, 4 of the 6 were obviously fake, cheap mouldings, poor printing, wildly offset track balance, they just looked and felt Sh#t. The 2 legit ones were obviously much higher quality parts, packaging fit n finish everything about them was different

Its 100% legit and I'd never take it over a Stepped Attenuator. I kept it though, as I realise how hard genuine arevto find
