Having recently visited a high end HiFi dealer, I was surprised to be talking about a liquid solution made by Chord which apparently increases the contact area of the RCA plug by creating a smoother and more perfect surface. You polish the connectors and it's that simple. "As big an upgrade as a new cable" suggested one over enthusiastic fellow.
The idea being that the more surface area that is in contact, the better the sound.
Obviously this is something we all know to be sound knowledge but it got me thinking. Could this liquid work? The price was off putting so I abandoned the idea.
However, I have just seen that Belden are deliberately making extra effort on doing just that. Making the surface of their cables super smooth. Again, there's been a lot of good press about a Belden cable recently with a few AoS members knocking up some cheap interconnects and (surprise surprise, Harrison) raving about the result.
SO, what's the opinion here, is the magic liquid worth a punt?
I'll try and find a link to it.

I have tried liquid cables and found them even less palatable than kinder chocolate Santa's.....and they were sprinkled with pixie dust.
Copper... that's wot you need.

BELDEN? Oh no, they make everything one note and colourless - according to Marco and I some years back - and I had various 'two core plus screen' examples of different sizes. More recently, I dug some of them out while I was sorting my cables box in the loft (nothing fancy or desirable, just loads of home made stuff from yesteryear) and came across the Beldens again. trying a set, they sounded absolutely fine to me... Sorry, I can't go with snakoil enhancement products, but making a CLEAN connection ain't a bad idea as long as you don't go all anal about it all - professionals don't (get anal about it) and if you see the patch bay to an analogue mixing desk, you'd see the frightening hydras they work with..

I've never tried a Belden Interconnect as far as I can remember.

Graphene powder in oil. It's not even conductive. If you want a better connection polish them with duraglit and then deoxit them.

This thread is starting to stink of Snakeoil.

I made some speaker cables very similar to the Chord Signature using some Belden cable. It was probably the same cable as chord used, without the mahoosive mark up.

Yup , I made the same cable up Kevin . It was much too stiff for me to use in my system . Sounded decent though . I still have it in the garage somewhere
