Only once I heard the A30. Sounded good to my ears. Any of you like his stuff?

Phono stage sounded good when I heard it once and it was moderately affordable too.

Guy is a nice fella but I have to be honest about the A30.
I didn’t like the A30 at all to start with. Then I spent about £150 on upgraded valves and kinda talked myself into thinking I’d been wrong, even though the valves did almost nothing.Then I got an Exposure X to play with, the Puresound got blown into the weeds and I realised my first impression was right. It’s a very average Chinese valve amp with a few tweaks to make it work properly. Those tweaks and import/middle man costs have put it in an orbit well beyond it’s capabilities. It’s one amp that relies on its “Emperor’s New Clothes” hype to keep it going. Just look how many have been sold on and on again on forums.

Good to be open with your experience, Westie. Good for you. Must admit, I do like the looks of the A30. Some audio shops used to sell a oil painting of it.

It’s very solid and looks and feels like a lot of amp for the money. The taller valves make it look even sexier. Even the packing is gorgeous. I so very much wanted to like it but I couldn’t get there. FWIW many say the 2A3 is far better. |

I like Guy a lot. Totally stand up bloke, bit of a polymath with hifi as it goes. And he has a good set of ears. His higher spec stuff is very good.

Only thing I have used of Guy's, is the Tenuto Platter mat. Which is top class.
He was too class on the phone and I received it next day. Outstanding stuff.

Had an L10 and then possibly one of the largest pres known to man, the L300, both excellent.
