What all good decks are wearing this year - Not cheap though...
Whenever I see the logo, all I can think of is the '50's and 60's decks the old incarnation of this brand made - I grew up with a Conquest changer... I believe Magnavox in the US fully absorbed the brand back then, but no idea if the current owners of the brand and logo have or know anything about the old company. I first knew of it due to this -
It wasn't around in the evening session...

Me too, but it's sold through Linn/Naim dealers primarily it appears, and clients who frequent there need money to indulge, so maybe not an issue for them. I almost want one for nostalgia purely for the name

I am using an acrylic mat on my LP12 at the moment; as it came with the thing when I bought it, and as part of the upgrade, I haven't changed it yet.

Why would anyone pay more than few quid for a bit of felt?

It looks really nice but the price made me jump! Expensive for a bit of carpet slipper material.

I'd much rather use a cactus to wipe my arse.

Is there some reason why it has been put on any table except a Collaro?

The only things it shares with the Collaro I knew and love is the logo and (kind of) the red colour of the mat.
It's very thin and not really like a Linn felt mat for example. It's more like a cloth but with a velvet kind of texture I can't describe better. It seems to work on a Cirkus LP12 which many mats don't like (the Spacemat i love used to work on the Cirkus LP12's but definitely not the first Cirkus incarnation).
The thing is, like expensive cartridges and equally expensive stylus retips that people readily lay out hundreds for, it's selling in the stores that have it and there are vinyl people able and willing to shell out for it. No idea how and when the Collaro name and logo came up for sale (I thought it was long absorbed into Magnavox, but it seems a success and other products will follow no doubt.

I've never seen one except in photographs.

I loved the Conquest changer I grew up with - fascinating mech and quite simple too apart form the clutch assembly under the arm. Glad to see the name still alive if nothing else but this vibe may be more personal to me than anyone else, I don't know...

Why would anyone pay more than few quid for a bit of felt? Yes if you own a certain Linn TT where the weave has to be a specific way......

You're the one looking to burn a grand or more on a cartridge - what's a ton on a very thin custom made mat compared to that outley eh? This thing apparently works on many other decks, not just a Linn and it's got to be better than sitting a disc drirectly on top of a metal mat that could have 'stuff' sitting on top. Just sayin'

Spending a grand on a cartridge has nothing to do with this topic. And besides I'm not spending a grand it's probably going to be more.. .
Secondly, are you talking about plonking vinyl directly onto the platter or using other something like a Teuto mat?
