I'm looking for a pair of desk top (but not really small maybe 5 or 6 inch drivers) active speakers (They'll be going on a Airplane) for my holiday flat in Spain. I want stereo speakers rather than a single wireless job they will be for use with a small DAC streaming Tidal from an iPhone and Google Chromecast.
I like the look of the newer JBL Active monitors or possibly the older Kef's from a few years back I'm looking to spend only £2 - £300 and would prefer used so that I get better value. I did intially think of a Naim QB but I wont have home wifi just my iPhone and I'd really prefer a stereo pair and I do want to eventually add a cheap record player at some point too.
Any ideas?

Sorry Nat, I'm stumped. 🤔 Is that a difficult thing to achieve or do you find it happens lot.

In case anyone else is equally stumped. I’m looking for advice on a set of active stereo speakers with 5 or 6 inch drivers to sit on a side board for a holiday flat in Spain. Because I need them in Spain they’ll have to travel on an Airplane with me so as I don’t want to pay a huge excess baggage I’d rather they where not hugely heavy.
I will be using the initially to stream Tidal from an iPhone via a Chromecast Audio but eventually might add a record player.

JBL 305's seem to rule this market at new prices! I *think* there's some tiny Genelecs too but don't know much about them. JBL 306mk2's are interesting to me but I have so much stuff and a great sounding pair of ancient IMF Compacts I just can't justify trying the JBL's out.

Maybe cheaper and less hassle to buy them on Spanish ebay/whatever when over there?

Or you could get out more. You are on holiday after all. A change is as good as a rest. . Watch the Spanish soaps while you're in the kitchen. I do. They're well funny with that silly jabber jabber language ! 😄

I don’t watch TV in England let alone here in Spain which is why I listen to music and I really enjoy the sound of language here try learning it then perhaps it won’t sound like ‘ silly, jibber jabber’ at all. Im not sure if your pulling my leg a bit so won’t take your comments seriously.

The best sounding foreign language for me is Italian. Don't speak a word but could listen to them talk all day. Second best is Geordie.

Thanks Macca I did see these but think they had already gone. They are the kind of thing I’m looking for though.

Maybe cheaper and less hassle to buy them on Spanish ebay/whatever when over there? Looking on Spanish eBay the choice isn’t great though of course this would be ideal. I have carried electrical equipment on a plane before though as long as it’s not unusually big and weighs under 23kg and better still fits into a hard shell case it’s fine.

Look on ebay for Fostex active speakers. I’ve been looking at Fostex actives and for the money they look decent. Cheers
