I'm using some old Naim Nac A5 at the moment that I got with a whole Naim system I bought a couple of years back but it has a one or two nicks in the outer jacket where someone has cable clipped it that go through to the wire and it's also got paint marks here and there and as you know Nac A5 is about as plyable as wood so it's not too popular with my other half. So I'll be looking for something nearer Christmas that's decent but not too pricey. Any ideas?

Supra classic is pliable and also attractive. Clear, natural and neutral too.

I only recommend my speaker cables lol
Unfortunately they are 16mm thick and expensive so probably no good to you lol

NAC A5 is bloody great ! Best bass cable in the world. ( And I've tried at least 8 !) You won't beat it for those reggae dirges. And in my not so humble opinion it gets even better with long runs. Keep it and put some black leccy tape over the defects.

A5 did use good quality (BICC) copper and the stiff insulation doesn't seem to react with the copper over time.
When I used to compare this stuff, it did have a slight 'sparkle' to it - or the other stuff sounded thicker -... The H07-VR stuff I use (seven strands but 2.5mm gauge as the A5 is) has a similar quality I reckon (mine's made by Ebion Kablo in Turkey but various types of same spec were used in LS2 I believe).
I'd suggest as enginbe says above. Maybe a dab of hot melt glue in the cut gaps? A5 is expensive stuff now as per Naim's regimen, but it IS a good cable if you can manage it. hell, Linn's K200 is also good looking too and a decent grade, but costs the same sadly. Really makes blue Van Damme or white 'Fisual' cables look incredibly cheap - and the Van Damme stuff is designed for VERY long industrial runs so a few metres a side in domestic use is nothing I reckon.

You could try Cable Talk 3 or 3.1 which is similar to A5, more flexible and costs peanuts used.

Thanks I think I'll try and repair those nicks and get the white spirit out and clean the paint off. I have 5m per side and just have it coiled up and tucked behind each speaker it is very bassy which is part of the reason I kept it that and the fact it cost me nothing. I sold the mint 5m pair I had for £125 when I sold the last of my Naim gear, I think I have a 3 or 4m pair of either Chord or QED thev writing has faded that I could dig out to compare.
