Been watching some latest uploads of the Hi-Fi Show at the Ascot. All I see is complete nonsense and ego spouting from the high end rooms. Those salesman makes my blood boil. You have to be stupid to sit down and listen to their lies and bullshit claims. F#ck the lot of them to hell!
I'd rather attend the Cambridge Audio room.

I used to like the Chesterfield one. But it was all record players when I went.

The best was the Chesterfield show. Mostly valve gear but interesting stuff you would not normally see in the 1990s. Sitting in rooms full of ultra expensive gear can be interesting if they didn't insist on playing classical and jazz audiophile stuff. Most of it is disappointing in relation to the unbelievable pricing. You get the odd room that makes a decent sound with listenable music and doesn't cost a fortune. Salesmen usually ignore me and I them (usually chatting to someone at the back anyway). That show is ultra high end so you should not be expecting to hear much you could actually buy. Will try and get there next year. The £20 entrance fee is rather off putting. Bristol up next but that has become boring and predictable. Maybe they will have to move it if the Mayor introduces his proposed diesel ban.

I will agree with you that the Bristol Show is boring and predictable. When I first went back in the early 90s it was full to the brim with 6 whole floors of mostly affordable gear, but it is less than half of that and shrinking every year
