It started in my adolescent years with the acquisition of a complete Philips separates system, obtained with the kind help of a Dutch Uncle, (seriously!!). Then it was A & R Cambridge. Then it was Audiolab, in many guises and variants. Then it was, (and still is), Naim.
I win.

I don’t even know how or why I got into hifi. Had an electric guitar very young and was into Bowie. Seemed to like records (mainly albums) from a early as I can remember. I must have heard good sound in some shop because I remember drooling over kit as a kid. Had separates early teens and worked for Richer late teens then a hifi shop early 20s. By that time I was already addicted. 1987 I was in York and the Sound Org were a huge influence. I’ve been buying, trying and selling kit ever since. Sonneteer and Spica have kinda claimed my affections to a point where I just want to stick with what I have.

As I recall, it was a good year or so before it made an appearance in the U.K. And considerably cheaper too. At the time I thought it was the Dogs Bollocks. No doubt now I'd consider it to be a load of sloppy old shite.

Tried a few things . Got to a standard where diminishing returns was obviously kicking in Bought records. Sorry. Apart from fiddling with things that I've found and kept I've done nothing except wear and tear ( carts ) for the last ten years. " I'll get me coat " 😔

Started with separates based on what HiFi winners. KA3020SE, PD-S703. Swapped Kenwood for Arcam (8R, 8P and 10P). Swapped Arcam for Firebottle stuff. Still have the PD-S703.

Picked it up from my Dad. Was brought up with decent Hi-Fi over the years.
