I like the look of Books which is more than i can say about Records & CDs.. Another obsession i had was collecting 1960's Sci-Fi paper backs, they really got out of hand & as Paper backs were generally used for Reading on Trains & Buses or on the Plane going on holiday they were seldom in Mint condition, that alone drove me crackers & i ended up taking them to the charity shop. Believe me those books fill the boot & back seat of the car for four trips to the charity shops..
Ive tried talking the wife into getting shut of some of her paper backs & just keep the Hard backs, but she wont so soft lad here gotta buy some new Bookcases..
My motto in life is if you dont use it get shut of it.

Good selection of English lit and music blogs? Yes; Eng lit and fiction dominate, along with biographies and history. Not much of a science or engineering collection!

Pop culture and History for me. At ther mp I'm into the East India Trading Company. Fascinating stuff. I carry a book at all times. Even to the chinese to wait for takeaway. In taking knowledge keeps your brain in good order for the future. I had one of those kindle things.... never again! .

Have a few signed first editions etc. but now read everything on Kindle. If I hadn’t done this I would t be able to get in the house as I e read constantly ever since I learned how. Can go through 4-5 books a week if I’m not working.

I own 4 books. One on NLP which I bought for a study course 8 years ago. Two by Dr Wayne Dyer, one of which is unread. Finally one by Graham Hancock which I’ve read about 5 pages of in 10 years.

I have more books than I'd like to count. Mainly technical stuff on just about every subject.

More books than you could shake a stick at!
I spy 'The Shorter Pepys' and 'The Oxford Dictionary Of Humorous Quotations' in that second pic. I have those books too.
That lampshades a shocker though.

The lampshade came free with the lampstand, which was also free, from back when we were completely skint. However, it's since been biffed for one without tassles.

No ! I like the tassles! 😟 It was also ripped in a couple of places, and the fitting for the stand was wonky, so it went on a skip a year or so back. We'd had the thing since 1979 though, so fair play to it.

Blimey! Mind you, I grew up in a house with almost no books. We had: Treasure Island, Black Beauty and Little Women (the last two were Christmas presents for my two sisters one year. My brother got a Noddy book, which he hated and threw away). My father owned one book, about HMS Hood, which AFAIK he never finished. We picked up a Famous Five book at a jumble sale, then the next door neighbour gave us a set of Arthur Mee's Children's Encylcopedia from the late 1930s. Now, we own several thousand books, everything from the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle to Finnegans Wake. Between us, we have four BAs, two MAs and two PhDs in English (and an MA in Garden History).

I was clearing out the top room for redecorating recently, and filled ten carrier bags full of books that had been lurking in various cupboards. Some of them I'd never seen before!

Spotted the original Penguin Clockwork Orange paper back there Here's a letter Hunter S Thompson sent to Anthony Burgess when Burgess was late sending in an article for 'Rolling Stone': 'What kind of lame, half-mad bullshit are you trying to sneak over on us? When Rolling Stone asks for a 'thinkpiece' goddamnit, we want a ****ing thinkpiece ... and don't try to weasel out with any of your limey bullshit about a '50,000 novella about the condition humaine etc' Do you take us for a a gang of brainless lizards? Rich hoodlums? Dilletante thugs? You lazy cocksucker. I want that thinkpiece on my desk by Labor Day. And I want it ready for press. The time has come and gone when cheapjack scum like you can get away with the kind of scams you got rich from in the past'. That's the stuff to give the troops!

Ordered a paperback off ebay earlier. 'Unknown Man No.89' by Elmore Leonard. I love Leonard's writing, never read a bad book by him!

I’ve got a cycling proficiency test certificate, (after four re-takes admittedly), 2 CSE’s and 4 ASBO’s, (with 1 pending). Oh......and a neat bookcase.
